Thomas steals a goods train from James in order to go to the mainland and see the world. All in all, things seem fine at first with him meeting engines from the other railway. However, several shady things start going on. The main one being the newly constructed Power Plant which is already bringing a sense of unease within the first few months of it first being established. Unfortunately, things soon go wrong as Thomas is not only imprisoned, but not long after, all hell breaks loose. Will Thomas The Tank Engine and his friends, both new and old, survive this nightmare? An earthquake is scheduled to come to Sodor and soon the island starts the crumble. [Literally just "Sodor's Decay" but it takes place on the mainland.] Our protagonist is Class 40, now known as Andy, who spends his days working on the mainland, along with other diesel engines, and a few steam engines who, by law, can't be scrapped yet. All of them unaware that the Decay is about to begin, and it all started with something that looked harmless; Rain.

On the Island of Sodor, where many living engines work, Halloween is fast approaching, and this year is surprisingly gearing up to be bigger and better than before. However, suspicions arise as months before, a strange government facility is built in close proximity to Vicarstown and Crovans Gate, complete with their own strange engine, to whom one of the NWR's engines is familiar. However, while all seemed great on the night of Halloween, things would soon go horribly wrong, leaving James and the many survivors, along with a creature thats not as evil as it first appears, to fight for survival and unravel the strange mystery that'll save Sodor. In "Sodor Echo," Thomas and his friends are on the Island of Sodor when they discover a mysterious echo in a part of the island they've never explored. The echo makes strange and unsettling noises, causing Thomas and his friends to become frightened. As they investigate, they imagine all sorts of scary creatures and situations. With the help of their friends and by confronting their fears, they eventually uncover the true nature of the echo and learn a valuable lesson about courage and teamwork.

Most people know about the stories from before and after the 1940's but many do not know about what happened in between.
