i feel i would be doing myself an injustice if i didnt talk about this using my tiny platform, but there is so much going on in the world that i really cant sit here and be silent about it.
i come from a family of immigrants. i am the first kid in my family to go to college and right now, i am the person who would ultimately be responsible for my siblings if anything, god forbid, happened to my moms. and today, we did have a scare where one of them was pulled over. by some blessing, this cop didnt take my step mom to jail, didnt write her a court order, and let her come home to me and my family.
the fact that millions of families just like me have to fear the idea of their parents or siblings or friends never coming back home just because they chose to come to a country that promised them security and safety is horrifying. immigrants are humans. they have families. they have lives. they have futures. trump implementing a plan to deport hardworking families and families that have never committed a crime in their lives is disgusting, point blank.
he has created a society in which racism and hatred has been normalized. no-one should be celebrating a mother being ripped away from her children or a father being sent back to a dangerous environment. we are hardworking taxpayers who actively contribute to our environments. we do not deserve to be treated as terribly as we are.
if you are not able to go out to protests, please use your voices and platforms to advocate for people who cant advocate for themselves. please continue to spread awareness and dont let anyone silence you. thank you.
