¡°Second Chance¡.¡± Wow! The title alone has brought me to another plane where I was temporarily shut off from the chaotic maze called life! Thank you!

Saoirse Ronan and Kate Winslet in one lesbian movie... All's right with the world. Include "Ammonite" in your must watch list, gay peeps...

Love and kindness... these 2 will help us get through the pandemic and social trials we are facing these days... I challenge you to do an act of love and/or kindness daily and make a difference.

To continue. What do I think about it?
I must say that when I learned it was written & directed by Alice Wu, I got all excited.
I rewatched Saving Face a few months ago.
No particular reason. Just looking for something to see. The version I saw didn¡¯t have subtitles so there¡¯s that. But it¡¯s okay. I¡¯ve seen it before. I could hazard a guess or whatever.
So, knowing that there¡¯s a new one from her was very exciting.

          Now, The Half Of It.
Mine is going to be an unpopular opinion.
I like Paul which is kinda reminiscent of Noah Centineo¡¯s character in To All The Boys...

He was the force in the movie which when I think of it now, he really was.
Without his desire to get Aster¡¯s attention and his idea of asking Ellie to write the letter, there won¡¯t be a story. Or it will be a different story.

I don¡¯t want to get into the details too much in case people kill me for spoiling it for them but the movie is heartfelt.
That is the main characteristic of Alice Wu¡¯s work.
The execution is low key, there¡¯s none of the melodrama (Thank God) but there¡¯s a lot of heart and brains.

The setting itself is a character.
A small town where not much happens.
          Everyone knows everybody else.
There¡¯s a sense of comfort to that.
          Then Ellie and her dad.
The only persons of color I saw.
I didn¡¯t like how they refer to Ellie as the Chinese girl or as Paul¡¯s mom said, his Chinese friend. Why????!!!

I¡¯m still waiting for things to settle in my brain.
I will probably watch it again.
The second time around, my heart is not as excited.
It gives my brain more room to function

Yeah. That is real life. Still, it seems weird. Like it¡¯s already 2020.
By the way, have you seen Portrait Of A Lady On Fire?
