chapter 30 / How about we play a little?

Smiling I jumped on deck where a strict looking Lou welcomed me.

"Good evening Y/N, so the letter was no hoax it seems."

"Yes, thank you very much for coming Lou. We desperately need your help."

Ace's POV

What the hell is wrong with them?
When we had boarded the Luz I thought that nothing would be different. That the Lou standing before us would be no different from the Lou 20 years into the future. She looked the same after all. However when Lou opened her mouth I nearly fell of Y/N's shoulder in surprise.

"We have just finished our expedition, so it wasn't too much of a hassle to come here. I hope I'm doing well in the future?"

"You know I can't answer that. However we did get stuck in the past due to a certain lady."

"I have no idea whom you could be referring to."

Why in the world are they talking like that???
Flabbergasted I tried to cling on to Y/N's shoulder as I observed my friends conversation. Well technically this was the Lou of the past and not my friend yet but whatever, same difference.
I couldn't believe my ears. Lou was always a little peculiar with her speaking. But to hear Y/N talk back in the same weirdly formal and outdated manner really took me off guard. It was hilarious.
No Ace stay serious! You're a bird right now. You can't laugh.

As if sensing my struggle Y/N shot me a warning glance. So I immediately tried to compose myself. However the urge to laugh kept bubbling up.

"Before we continue our talk let me bring this little one into my room. He's starting to get a little unruly."

"The parrot? Oh, sure. I'll be awaiting you in the navigation room. As I felt bad that you would not being able to sleep in your regular room I prepared the queen's quarters for your stay."

"What? You really shouldn't have. You know the normal guest room would have been fine."

"I would very much appreciate it if you occupied the room that I specially prepared for you."

"Ok ok, thank you. I'll see you in a few minutes."

Swiftly Y/N walked into the ship, breezing by a dozen doors and corridors until abruptly halting before a beautifully carved wooden door.
Before I could even think about what could hide behind such a fancy entrance, Y/N had opened it and thrown me onto a large fluffy bed.

"Wow did you guys accomodate a royal or why do you have such a flashy room?"

"We were a queen's escort a few decades back."

"You can't be serious."

"Do you really think I would build this for myself? I can sleep anywhere as long as it is safe enough"

"I guess the esteemed royal escort Y/N wouldn't be the kind to spend her adventures in a golden room."

"I sure hope you don't. Anyways this is the room we will be staying in. Promise me you won't ever leave it unless I have permitted."

"Huh, why?"

"Do you want to remain being a parrot for the rest of our flight? It'll take at least two weeks."

"What? No! I swear I will do whatever you say Y/N!"

"Promise me that you won't leave this room."

"I promise!"

"Good."

Still eying me suspiciously Y/N finally released her jutsu, returning me to my human appearance.
