Sunhee suddenly found herself excited for art history.
Not because of the material. Not because of the teacher. But because of Kevin.
All day, she couldn't get his words out of her mind. He didn't want to see her hurt. For some reason, whenever she replayed his words in her mind, her heart fluttered.
What was happening?
She didn't know. All she knew was that she wanted to see him. She wanted to be with him. He was fun to be around. They could joke and laugh, and she could be honest with him, and he'd give her honest and genuine advice.
As soon as her class finished, she stuffed her things into her bag and ran to her last class of the day. The class with him in it. Her new favorite class.
Why was she so excited to see him?
Because you're friends, she answered herself. It's normal for friends to be excited to see each other.
Right?
The logical part of her brain told her that this was their third day knowing each other. It told her that it was really too soon to know if he'd be a friend to her or not. It told her that they were essentially still strangers.
But when she opened the door and saw him already in the classroom, her heart told her that none of that mattered. Her heart didn't care.
Her heart was just happy to see him.
He looked up when she sat next to him, and gave her that heart fluttering smile of his. She felt her smile widen in return.
"You look happy to see me," he commented cheekily.
"I'll always be happy to see you," she told him. "Always."
He grinned, then held out his pinky to her. "Promise?"
Sunhee laughed, linking pinkies with him and completing the promise.
"I promise."
