I'm so tired.
I'm cold.
I'm drenched in sweat.
I'm hungry.
Fuck this.
I've been up this tree for hours, and these damn wolves won't piss off, I guess this is as close they've gotten to a real meal in days, hell maybe even weeks.
It's night now and my mom is probably losing her shit at home since she knows we would never spend the night out here without telling her.
Just thinking about it makes me dread this situation even more.
I go to take a peek down the tree, and see some of the wolves napping while others keep watch, almost like they're taking shifts.
I stop looking and lean back up against the tree bark and sigh.
"Ain't this some shit." I say with a lack of tone in my voice.
Johnny doesn't say anything, he just sits there with his eyes closed on a branch.
If I didn't know better I'd think he up and died on me but I can clearly see his chest rising and falling.
"How's the ankle?" I say as plainly as I did before.
"Still fucked." He says sounding a bit uninterested.
"Great." I say a little frustrated.
You may be confused as to why his ankle is "fucked".
Since the teeth didn't get deep you'd think his ankle be fine but I guess there's also the strength of the bite to take into account.
Apparently wolves bite pretty hard, shocker I know.
I'm not sure what the bite force of a wolf is but it messed up his ankle pretty bad.
After about 30 minutes his ankle began to swell, and it hasn't gotten better.
And now I'm not sure if he can walk on it, so that's just swell.
Get it?
Sorry, I apologize, I had to.
"You got any ideas?" I ask feeling I've exhausted all my options.
"If I had one we wouldn't still be on a tree talking about it." He said sounding annoyed.
"Fair point." I say with no conviction.
Normally I'd give him shit for being rude but I don't feel like there's a point in that right now.
Then in the corner of my eye, I catch something or rather a lack of something.
"Psst, look." I say after I throw a piece of bark at him.
I could tell he was gonna say something but when he noticed as well he went quiet.
The wolves had left.
That's what it looked like at least, there wasn't any trace of them.
They must've moved while we were talking, because I didn't hear a thing.
We both understood the opportunity before us.
"What's the gameplan?" I say with a sense of urgency.
"Something's off." He said while narrowing his brow.
"Care to enlighten me?" I say pressed for time since I'm not sure how long the area below us will remain clear.
"It just doesn't feel right." He said sounding confused himself.
"You just said the same thing two different ways." I said getting impatient.
