"Has he said anything?" Minho asks, all of us now entering Alby's room.
"No." Teresa replies bluntly.
Alby is fully awake now, sitting upright and on the side of the bed, his feet dangling off of it and his back facing us. A part of me is scared to move any further, worried that he'll lash out again but also curious to what he has to say.
Newt is the first to make a move towards him, a strike of fear coming across me as he sits next to him. "Alby?" He gently asks, no answer. "Alby, you alright?"
Thomas moves to Alby, crouching down in front of him. "Hey Alby..." He cautiously says, and I feel Teresa stiffen from next to me. "Alby, we might've just found a way out of the maze." Thomas tells him, but there was still no answer and I'm growing more concerned by the second.
"Do you hear me?" Thomas asks, "We could be getting out of here." From what I'm able to see, Alby finally shows some movement by shaking his head, "We can't. They won't let us."
Thomas looks to Newt for a moment, asking for help? I assume, but Newt says nothing in return. "What are you talking about?" Thomas asks Alby, "I remember." He says with a crack in his voice.
"What do you remember?" Thomas inquires, and despite my growing fear for knowing what made Alby lash out so bad, I also want answers to everything. Alby finally moves, looking to Thomas. "You."
I immediately look to Teresa, already meeting her blue eyes. "You don't think?" I ask her, trailing off. "No, it can't be. It was just a theory that we came up with and-"
"You were always their favorite, Thomas." Alby continues, "Always." Currently glaring at Alby, I didn't think anything could pull my attention away from him, but I'm wrong. The sound of yelling, people running, things being knocked over, I can't help but look towards the door.
Alby still speaks as everyone in the room begins to realize the commotion outside, "Why did you do this? Why did you come here?" Thomas runs out and we follow after him, leaving Alby with Jeff and Clint.
The sun had been whisked away and the moon shines above us , the boys are running around frantically with torches in their hands. "Winston, what's going on?" Thomas asks, "The doors, they aren't closing!" Winston exclaims. My eyes slowly trail over to a large gap in the walls, a gap that should not be there.
We all head over to one of the open doors and look in the maze. Chuck also stands here with three other boys I haven't met yet, a torch in Chuck's hand as he looks to all of us. Teresa and I stand next to each other, facing the maze as my heart begins to race. After seeing the maze in broad daylight, seeing it at night is a completely different experience, terrifying to say the least.
Out of nowhere, an unbearable, screeching sound permeates the Glade. I immediately cover my ears with my hands and look around to see everyone doing the same. Except for Newt, who seems more concerned with my pain than his own.
I slowly take my hands off of my ears, believing we're safe until that same exact sound screeches again. We immediately turn around and watch as another door opens.
Then another, to our right.
Then another, to our left.
I look back and forth at the sight surrounding me, all four doors lay open.
Newt suddenly makes an appearance next to me, the other boys too terrified to notice how close we stand next to each other. As everything around me seems to be happening too fast and all at once, I slowly feel Newt's gentle hand glide down my arm and intertwine with my hand.
"I-I'm sorry. I just need someone, right now." He quickly whispers with fear in his voice, and I squeeze his hand, "Me too."
"Chuck..." I hear Thomas begin, but I'm far too distracted to listen by the impending doom and the feeling of Newt's grip on my hand. "Winston, you go with him." Newt orders, which tells me that he was at least listening. "Got it." Winston says, before running off with Chuck.
"Get the others. Tell them to go to the forest and hide! NOW!" Gally yells to someone, and it feels as though my fear is reaching its highest point. "Minho," Thomas directs, "I need you to go and grab every weapon that you can find." Minho immediately nods, and turns to Newt, a couple other boys, and me. "Let's go."
Every time my foot hits the ground, my fear seems to slap me in the face. But it doesn't matter how scared I am, or how I wish all of this to be some terrible nightmare. No matter what happens, I have to fight, for my life, and for everyone.
"Stay safe, Y/n." Teresa says telepathically, and I can practically feel her eyes burning into me.
"I don't think that's an option right now."

Minho leads us to a hut in the forest, small but valuable.
"Okay, everyone grab a weapon and hurry. We need to make it back to the Council Hall before-" Minho is suddenly cut off by the sound of something screaming, not someone, something. Shortly after, multiple human screams begin to fill the air, telling us that the worst has arrived.
"Hurry! They're already here!" Minho screams, and I frantically grab a large spear from next to me. We waste no time in running out of the hut, out of the forest, and back into the open field of the Glade. Which is no longer a home, but a battlefield.
As we run, we're suddenly stopped in our tracks by someone falling from the sky in front of us. This boy is unfamiliar to me, and I know I'll never be able to meet him now. I whip my head to the source and finally see what I've been waiting for, ever since those damn doors didn't close.
Eight mechanical legs sprouting out of its green, hairy, and fleshy torso. A mechanical tail that seems to stretch for miles, with a claw-like tip that appears ready to sink itself into my body. Lastly, its face. Which seems to only be a wide mouth, filled with razor-sharp teeth.
Before it can lunge at me, I'm luckily pulled away by Newt. I don't even have to look to know that it's him, I have apparently grown too familiar with the feel of his hands.
"WATCH OUT FOR THEIR TAIL!" Minho yells, "ITS TIP HAS A STINGER AND IT WILL DRIVE YOU MAD IN SECONDS, OR WORSE, KILL YOU!"
I tighten my grip on Newt's hand at this information, connecting that I could've just died if Newt didn't pull me away. I look behind us, sighing in relief as the griever is no longer following. "THERE!" I hear Minho shout, and I do my best to find where he's looking, eventually finding that Thomas, Teresa, and some other boys are currently meeting a griever.
"ON MY CUE!" Minho prepares, "ONE-"
He's shortly cut off by Frypan, who I exchanged names with not too long ago, screaming and throwing his spear at the griever, leading all of us to follow his actions. The surprise attack luckily holds it back for a moment and gives all of us some time to run to the Council Hall.
We're merely a few steps away and the ground leaves my feet without warning, a strike of pain hits my side and I suddenly feel dizzy as I watch the world blur around me. Only becoming clear again when I hit the ground and realize that the Council Hall seems so much farther now.
"Y/N!" I hear a various number of voices yell, but I'm afraid it's too late. As I grip my side, my eyes widen in colossal fear as the griever crawls over me. I almost feel frozen, I am actually face-to-face with a fucking griever.
