"Fine."
"Plus, I really don't think anyone lives in this apartment..." Y/N said, as she looked over to the door leading into a hallway that stood wide open. There had been some lights on upstairs. Maybe that's where Midoriya was...
"Aren't we going to scare him if we do this? He'll think we're like- villains or something."
"What's your plan then? How else are we going to find out what's going on with him?"
"Observing."
"Okay. Let's observe then."
Shota stayed in an awkward silence.
"You know this is kinda awkward."
"It was your idea, Sho. Why don't we just head upstairs and knock at the door, say we saw that there were some lights on, but there were windows broken downstairs and we wanted to make sure everything is okay? I feel like that's slightly less creepy."
"Fine, you do it though." Shota grumbled.
"Alright, alright. I hope we survive going up the stairs..." Y/N muttered, as she slowly walked up the old and creaking stairs.
"Damn, this is old..." Shota grumbled.
"Yeah... shit, even if we make it upstairs, we'll probably die on the way back down..." Y/N mumbled, taking a deep breath and heading up the last few steps. There was one door that stood open and one that was closed. She could hear some noise from behind the closed door.
"We won't die." he rolled his eyes. "Probably. If the ceiling doesn't collapse from how old this building is."
"Fuck, I managed to ignore the ceiling until now. How have they not blocked this building off yet?" Y/N asked, shaking her head.
"I'm not exactly sure. This place better not fall down with a knock on a door."
"Well, time to try that out." Y/N sighed. She took a deep breath and softly knocked at the door. The floor underneath her feet creaked loudly. Shota cringed at the sound of the creak. At first, there was some shuffling, then they heard some creaking from some footsteps. The knob turned, but the door didn't open.
"Hello? Is there anyone in there?" Y/N asked loudly. The door opened, and suddenly an item was chucked at them, Shota ducking as it flew past his head. Y/N didn't realize that something came flying at her until it was too late and she was smacked right in the head by it. Shota grumbled before turning to Y/N.
"You okay?" he asked before picking up the notebook. 'Hero Analysis Notebook No. 13.'
He looked at the short figure in the dark.
"Kid, you dropped this."
"That was... unexpected." Y/N just muttered, glancing at the notebook and then at Midoriya who was standing behind the door, looking confused.
"Umm... we're not gonna keep your things. You know, kids like you shouldn't be out here. Do you live here? Please don't tell me you live here." Shota replied. "We saw that you had a broken window and wanted to make sure there were no break ins, or anything."
"E-Eraserhead? A-and Phantasm? What are you doing here?" Izuku asked, surprised to see two of his favourite heroes - well, vigilantes - standing right in front of his door.
"Just wanted to see what was going on, and saw a kid like you walking in. What are you, 12 or 13? Where are your parents?" Shota asked. This looked way too similar to how they adopted Shinso.
"I... I'm fine. I'm fine, really, you don't need to bother with me. My parents are... they're just out shopping at the moment." he said, feeling his eyes fill with tears.
