Thirty-Five

Bad and Skeppy were coming back from their small trip to Bad's home a few days ago. Antfrost booked an early flight back as he had plans made with his boyfriend whom he doesn't see as often, everyone understood and even convinced him to book a flight.

Technoblade would call his family Christmas afternoon so he could watch his siblings open their gifts and still be with them.

Tommy, Technoblade, Wilbur, and Tubbo had pitched in to buy Kristen, Phil's wife, a plane ticket out here on christmas eve as a christmas present. The flight was round trip. While it was expensive, the quartet found it worth it.

Ranboo would be calling his family christmas morning though they would be waiting to open all the gifts until he got home. He had an older sister who couldn't even make it home due to Covid regulations at her College until he was home anyway.

Ryleigh and Tubbo would end up calling their family around 5am so they could watch Lani and Teagan open their gifts as well as their parents. Tommy would do the same with his parents, but later into the morning so he could see his dogs and his parents without waking them up so early seeing as he had no siblings.

Niki would phone her parents as would Wilbur.

While this was all but two days away now, they still had to survive today and tomorrow.

Ryleigh was sure the days would fly by in an instant until she had to go back.

She was very hesitant about that. Her and Tommy had come to Florida as nothing more than close friends and they would be leaving as everything crossing the line of just friends.

Ryleigh knew she'd completely fallen for the blonde on this trip and she's accepted it completely. That did not stop her from worrying how different and difficult things would become for them. Instead of being a simple two second walk from the other, there'd be a total of almost ten hours between them.

She wanted to make their relationship work, but she was never the type to do long distance. She figured summer would be a good time for her tommy and tubbo to hang out, though she wasn't sure how to make it last that long without Tommy.

Ryleigh had to stop her brain from spiraling immediately after the topic arose. She hated overthinking like this. She hadn't even realized she'd been crying until she'd looked at the water droplets on her phone. She quickly pulled herself together and focused on the now, not the future.

Once everyone was awake she tried to stray away from people. Everyone knew it was Tubbo's birthday so they wished her a happy birthday as well. She didn't mind, though she wasn't fond of it. This was Tubbo's day. These were Tubbo's friends.  She didn't feel like she deserved their attention when she barely knew them besides a few in passing conversations.

She knew some of them better than just in passing conversations for example Tommy and Niki and Ranboo. She just didn't feel right taking Tubbo's spotlight. She didn't like much attention anyway, so it was okay for her. This could be Tubbo's year to shine.

Ryleigh snuck upstairs to her room when her phone lit up with Luka's number. She let the phone ring until it ended. The room fell silent until the sound of the phone went off once again. She sighed before hesitantly answering the phone and quietly shutting her laptop.

"Luke..." She whispered.

"It's your birthday. Why aren't you home? Your parents told me you weren't home. Are you with another boy? Should i protect you again? Where are you?"

"Im visiting a friend." She sort of lied.

"Who is this friend? I thought i got rid of them all."

"They're pretty far away."

"Ryleigh, baby, where in the hell are you?" His voice was strained with anger. Her door opened and she immediately put a finger to her lips, eyes widening in fear.

"Im out of town for a few days, Luke."

"Why?"

"I told you, im visiting a friend."

"Without permission?"

"We aren't dating anymore, Luka, I don't need permission. Im seventeen and can do as i please with whom i want."

"Thats cute, really it is. What punishment would you like for that? I could drag your precious innocent Toby into it."

"No no no, im sorry! Im sorry just leave him be." The girl begged upon hearing her brother's name brought up.

"How many punishments, Ryleigh."

"Two." The girl whispered, tears sliding down her face.

"For what?"

"Lying and talking back." Ryleigh said, choking on her words.

"When do you get back?"

"the second."

"Watch out." He said before disconnecting the line. She completely broke down realizing nobody was in her room anymore. The girl's day had been ruined with one phone call.

If only she just hadn't answered.
