“Come on, Dad. That's good.” Ian said, as he slowly pulled his Dad along.
The adventurers walk to the front door of the tavern.
“All right, listen. First, let me do the talking. Secondly, it's crucial we show the Manticore the respect she deserves, or she will, thirdly, not give us a map to the Phoenix Gem.” Barley said.
“Wait, wait, wait. The map?” Ian backtracked.
“I thought she had a Phoenix Gem.”
“You're so cute. Hear that, Dad? He's a smart kid, he just doesn't know how quests work.”
“Well, is there anything else you're forgetting to tell us?” [Y/n] asked.
“Mmm. No.”
Barley opened the door.
“Happy happy birthday, Come join us on a quest, To make your birthday party, The very, very best, Hey!”
[Y/n] and Ian turned to Barley, giving him a look.
The tavern was more of a restaurant than the haunted mansion they expected it to be.
“Okay, okay, so the tavern changed a little over the years, but the Manticore is still the real deal.” Barley said, as they walked into the tavern.
[Y/n] and Ian looked around.
“I'll have the soup of the day.” An elf ordered.
“Would my lord like a cup or cauldron?” The elf waitress wearing a wizard costume asked.
They turned their heads to the side, to see a young cyclops playing a video game.
Suddenly [Y/n] squealed.
“Oh my gosh! Look!” She said, pointing to a very beautiful sword placed inside a glass case.
“Do you think it’s a real one?” She asked as she stared at the sword in amazement.
“Why don’t you go over there and find out?” Barley said, winking at the girl.
“Really? Can I?” [Y/n] asked.
“Yup.” Barley said, while Ian echoed,
“No.”“Oh come on, why not?” [Y/n] whined.
“We came here strictly for one thing only, and we are not going to get distracted.”
“Oh come on squirt, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. She might never get to see a real life sword in her life again.”
“Please………just one selfie?” [Y/n] pleaded, giving him her puppy eyes she knew that he couldn’t say no to.
Ian sighed, giving in.
“Fine.”[Y/n] squealed excitedly and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
“Thank you.”Then she walked off with her tablet, leaving a blushing Ian behind.
Barley glanced at his brother, who was still staring after [Y/n] and smirked, clearing his throat.
Ian snapped out of his daze turning to his brother, who raised an eyebrow at him, smirking.
Ian shook his head and walked ahead.
“Let’s just find the Manticore.” He said in embarrassment, making Barley laugh.Barley walked to one of the waitresses, a cyclop wearing a knight costume.
“Madam, I request an audience with the Manticore.” He said, in his usual dramatic voice.
