Chapter 19

You saw Zenitsu rolling around on the ground. "Those crows are talking!" Zenitsu yelled out in fright. 'Yes. Though, I wish they could let us rest whenever we just finished a mission.' you thought as you gave the crows a glare and continued on walking.

The three of you are now walking in a forest, heading to your next destination. "Hey, (Y/N), Tanjiro, on second thought, I'm not gonna make it. Even if I go along, I'm gonna be totally useless." Zenitsu said.

"Don't say that, Zenitsu-kun. You passed the Final Selection and became a Demon Slayer. You're strong in your own ways." you reassured. "(Y/N), you are such a goddess! Please, marry me!" Zenitsu said as sparkles floated around him. "No thank you." you replied.

"Then, would you let me court you?" Zenitsu asked. Tanjiro grabbed your arm and pulled you away from Zenitsu. "No, Zenitsu." Tanjiro said while you gave him an apologetic smile. 'Sorry, Zenitsu-kun but I already have someone on my mind.' you thought  as you turned forwards and saw a mansion at the end of the forest.

The three of you looked at the building in front of you. "I can smell blood. But this particular scent...." Tanjiro trailed off. "You smell something?" Zenitsu asked. "Something I've never smelled before." Tanjiro replied.

"I don't know about that, but do you two hear that sound? Also, the three of us are gonna have to work together, after all?" Zenitsu exclaimed. "Sound?" Tanjiro asked as you looked around the area. "Never mind that but there are children over there." you said. "Huh?" Tanjiro and Zenitsu exclaimed as you pointed at a boy hugging a little girl close to him, both of them looked scared.

"I wonder what's wrong." You mumbled out. "Hey, guys, what are you doing here?" Tanjiro asked as he took a step forward. The kids flinched and took a step back. 'They seem really spooked out.' you thought.

"Okay, wanna see something cool?" Tanjiro asked as he went down on one knee. "Ta-da! It's a tamed sparrow!" Tanjiro exclaimed as he showed the two kids the sparrow on his palm. "See? Isn't he cute?" Tanjiro asked. The tiny sparrow chirped happily, making the kids calm down as the fell on their knees.

"Please tell us. Did something happened? Is this your house?" You asked the two kids. "No. No, it's not. This is... a monster's house! Our big brother got taken away. When we were walking down the road at night, this monster we'd never seen before showed up. It didn't give us a glance. Just our brother." The boy said.

"And they went inside that house, right?" you asked as the boy nodded. "Did you two follow them here? You both did good! Great job!" you said and patted the kids head in comfort as tears fell from their eyes. "We followed the traces of his blood. Because he got hurt!" The boy added.

"Don't worry! We're going to defeat the bad guy and rescue your brother!" Tanjiro exclaimed. "Really? You really will?" the girl asked with hope in her voice. "Yes! For sure!" you said as you gave them a gentle smile.

"(Y/N), Tanjiro..." Zenitsu began as the two of you looked at him. "Hey, what is this sound? This creepy sound never stops. Is it a tsuzumi?" Zenitsu asked. "Sound? I don't hear any?" you replied. "Me as well." Tanjiro added.

A body came out from the window at the house, making all of you shocked. The body landed head first as the girl screamed and held onto the boy. "Don't look!" you yelled as you covered the two kids while Tanjiro went to the body.

"Tanjiro, by any chance, is that guy these kids'...." Zenitsu trailed off. You all heard a loud noise coming inside the house as you held the kids close to you as they trembled in fear.

"Hey, is that man your...." you asked. "It's not Brother. Brother's wearing a persimmon-colored kimono." The boy said.

'So it has captured more than one person.' you thought. "All right! (Y/N)-san, Zenitsu, come on!" Tanjiro exclaimed. "Right!" you replied. Zenitsu shook his head as reply.

"But no one else can help them now but you, (Y/N)-san and me." Tanjiro said. Zenitsu just stood on his spot, looking frightened to go inside. "Really? All right, then." Tanjiro exclaimed as he looked down. You can't see what he looks but from Zenitsu's reaction, you can probably tell he's somehow mad.

"Let's go, (Y/N)-san." Tanjiro called out as he began to turn and walk towards the house, you not far behind. "Hey, come on! Why are you making that ogre face at me? Okay, I'll go!" Zenitsu exclaimed. 'Ogre face?' you thought with amusement as Zenitsu clung on the box Tanjiro is carrying.

"I have no intention of forcing you to." Tanjiro said. "I said I'll go!" Zenitsu cried out.

Tanjiro took off the box he was carrying and placed it on a shaded area near the kids. "In case of an emergency, I'm leaving this box behind. Even if something happens, you two will be protected." Tanjiro informed. You debated on whether you should let Douma guard the kids as well but decided not to. You'll probably get a lecture on why you didn't let him join you.

"Okay, we're going now." Tanjiro exclaimed as the three of you went inside the house.
