Journey to the Elf World

I approached the main door. Two of the patrolling guards saw me and jogged over to where I stood. "Hey! What do you think you're doing?" They looked angry. "Gentleman!" I began adopting a fake British accent, "I thought this was the tea house!" The 2 men looked at each other. Then one growled, "Alright you've had your joke kid now scram!" With that he held up a pistol pointed at the sky threateningly. I continued,

       "Hey man that's not nice, where I come from that sort of behavior is not tolerated." with that I quickly drew my desert eagle and with a loud bang! Blew the man's brains out. His partner cursed and drew his own weapon, before the gun was all the way out of the holster I broke the man's wrist.

       He screamed. I heard footsteps behind the door. I turned and ran. Someone behind me cried out "It's another elf! Get him!" I turned and fired a shot. 5 more men had come out and one was holding a big machine gun.

       I crouched behind a parked car. Several bullets ripped by followed by loud reports. The machine gun opened fire. Bullets began to tear through the car. I was going to die. I knew it. But for Morgan and Sarah to escape I had to eliminate these men. My mind filled with determination.

       Then, for the second time that night, time slowed. I could see the bullets. There were moving quickly through the air. I got out of the line of fire then raced towards the men. I crouched behind them where none could see me. I came out of elf sense. I took out the grenades and pulled the pins.

       I dropped the now armed grenades at the feet of the men and ran around the corner of the building. The men heard nothing over the roar of gunfire until it was too late. There were too mighty blasts then silence.

       Suddenly Morgan burst out of the front door. He was followed by Sarah. I felt a sudden joy in my heart that Sarah was alive. I joined them as we ran down the street. "Where is Jake?" Sarah called out to Morgan. "Right behind you!" I answered. Sarah turned and spread her arms meaning to give me a hug, tears in her eyes. "You don't know what you saved me from."

       I almost hugged her, almost. Her back was to the building. I looked over her shoulder. In the doorway a huge Alukai stood. He began to run towards us. In his hand he held a big gun. I grabbed Sarah's shoulder and forced her down behind a car. I stood and put three bullets in the Alukai's chest.

       He fell behind a dumpster. Sarah stood; there was pain in her eyes, emotional pain. "Come on we have to move!" I shouted. Sarah turned and looked back at the direction of the Alukai. From where she stood she could not see its body. "Jake there is nothing there." A tear ran down her cheek and she chased after her brother.

       We ran another few blocks and Morgan stopped and broke into a car. He hotwired it, Sarah and I got in. I in the front and she in the back. We left Washington DC. I looked in the back; Sarah refused to meet my eyes. What had I done? I had saved her life and she did not even know it. I grew angry and almost said something but changed my mind.

       Instead I turned to Morgan and asked, "So now we head to the portal right?" He shook his head, "wrong we don't know where it is. We have a contact who works in a Wal-mart in western Montana, He knows and he will lead us to the portal." I nodded, "let's go." I looked back at Sarah again, things just didn't make sense. We drove on into the morning. It had been a hard night.
