YUE SLAMMED HER HEAD against the table. Hard.
"It was a simple question, Yue."
"I know!" She groaned in frustration.
"Then answer it."
"I can't!" Her cries were filled with melo-dramatic hints as her head rose up. "What do I even gain from knowing on how to control my heartbeat? It's so useless."
"It is not useless, Yue."
Her father, Kaito, sliced her whines with ease. As Yue looked up at him, she noticed the sternness in his face and the assertiveness in his voice. She gulped.
His eyebrows were caught in stern frown as his lips formed a thin line.
Though that cold expression softened once he gazed into her warm eyes.
He sighed. "Yue..." He began in a tender voice, "It is inevitable to have a stable heartbeat if you aren't calm—which is the essence of you using your flames. If you are in a dangerous or nerve-racking situation, you probably won't be able to breathe thoroughly, which will have consequences on your Quirk since your heartbeat speeds up."
"That's why controlling your heartbeat is really effective," he ended his speech.
Pure insecurity was written on little Yue's face. Kaito noticed it, too, and chuckled slightly.
He was standing in front of the white board where countless of facts and techniques were splattered on, but he then began on walking toward her.
Kaito smiled at his daughter as he squatted down next to her seat. He stroked her head affectionately while maintaining his warm eyes on hers. "What's wrong, moonlight?"
"I just..." She released a tired sigh, eyes falling down on her lap as her lips turned into a pout. "I think this is all just... too much for me."
