You sighed, "Well, we finally made it out of hell. Your sarcasm towards school seemed normal anymore, especially to Jeff, which made him laugh.
"Yeah, and the teachers are demons, and the principal is Satan himself." He joked, laughing at how degrading school could be.
"Actually," you remarked sternly, "The principal's a girl."
"Huh, I know what I said." Jeff snarled, being yet giggly as he said such a remark, but since when was he wrong about such things like that. Never. And you even seemed to agree with him, as you both laughed a loud knowing what a pain school was.
"Haha, I love your humor. But we might as well get what they call 'education' done." Homework was on your mind right now, and to simply get it done. Not wasting another minute, you outstretched a delicate hand and curled your small fingers around the cold knob. Turning it with a swift hand, you pushed the door open, the warm and yet comforting air of your home enveloping your small figure, along with Jeff as he walked in behind you, letting him in.
You shut the door behind you, and wondered if your mom was even home? Was she? You didn't know, but you decided to ask?
"Mom!"
No answer.
"Mom? Are you home?"
Still no answer, only silence. Sadly, she wasn't home, but since when was she ever. She always came back late from work. Ever since your father had left you and your mother a few years ago, life hadn't been easy, but you were at least Jeff was always there for you as a very supportive friend, you were thankful for that. Plus, your father was worthless anyways. Before he left you and your mom, he had been cheating and going to prostitute clubs, simply doing what a committed husband should not be doing.
When your mother came to know this, she wanted nothing to do with him anymore, he simply wanted him out of her life. Lucky for her, he did just that. He moved away with some woman he met in club a few days after your mom found out the truth. Sadly, and for some awkward reason, your father seems to haunt you along with your mother until now, but it's not like you wanted anything to do with him. You despised him for being so degrading and heartless, and he should have never done such a thing if he turely loved you and your mother. Clearly, he didn't, but since he left, it was simply for the best, and you honestly felt better that there were no problems - or so you thought.
You sighed deeply, "Hm, she's probably still at work."
"Probably." Jeff added, a look of sternness in his eyes.
Silence. That's all there was, but you broke it yet again by saying, "So, why don't we get our homework done, then we can hang out and do whatever we want."
"Heh, sure." The mentioned male scoffed, be lazy as he went towards the staircase attempting to go up the stairs.
"That better not be a smart remark wanting me to do the work for you, Jeffrey." You teased maliciously, a devilish smirk twisting on your small, pink, plump lips as you walked up to him.
Jeff snapped his head back, a few strands of his dark hair falling into his face. "First off, you know I hate being called that, [Your Name]. Hm, maybe now I will let you do all the work for me since you called me that."
"Oh, is that a challenge?" You remarked, a giggle escaping your lips. If there was one thing you knew, you loved seeing Jeff irritated, or really being teased in a good way, especially by you. Plus, you loved to challenge him.
Jeff dropped his backpack from his shoulder and on the stairs and came back down from the half he once walked up. A devilish look in his eyes to prove you wrong, which made you laugh. "Wh-why are you looking at me like that."
