"They got Max." I heard her tell Dad as he cursed on the other end of the phone. "Just stay there Carter, okay? We're coming."
"Okay, love you guys."
"We love you too. We'll be there as soon as we can."
And with that they put down the phone and I was left alone in the safe room.
My thoughts were running wild and it took all of my self control to not leave that room and go and find my sister or try and fix this situation.
I just prayed that everything would be okay.

After an hour or so of hearing nothing outside the room, I began to worry a little.
The room is soundproof, so I just had to sit alone, not knowing when my parents were going to find me.
Suddenly out of nowhere, the safe room door opened and my head jolted to see who was there.
"Carter! Thank god you're okay." Mom said, rushing over to me and engulfing me in a hug.
My Dad soon followed, hugging us both tightly.
"Thank god." he said, sighing a breath of relief.
"Where's Sky?" I asked.
"We still need to find her." Mom said. "Let's go and check the other safe rooms. Carter, you go with Dad and I'll go alone."
"They left the house just before we could get here, so we still have no idea who it was or why they were here." Dad sighed.
"Well can we check the CCTV?" I asked.
"They disabled it." he replied. "But we will get them eventually."
"Okay, lets go and get Sky and then we can talk about that." Mom said before rushing down the hall to check the other safe rooms.
"She's right, lets go." Dad said as we went the opposite way to check upstairs first.
We searched the top two floors with no sign of Sky and I began to get a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach.
"Mom must have found her downstairs because she isn't here." Dad said.
"Yeah." I agreed half-heartedly.
Suddenly, we heard a piercing scream coming from the other side of the house.
"Reed!" Mom cried.
Dad and I exchanged a worried glance before sprinting down the hallway.
"Julia?" Dad yelled, looking petrified as he ran ahead of me.
Finally we arrived at the safe room where my Mom was stood gripping a small square of paper, her face drained of colour and tears forming in her eyes.
"Jules, what's wrong?" he asked, rushing over to her and placing his hands on her shoulders.
"T-they took her. Reed, they took her." she cried, dropping the paper as she cupped her mouth with both hands and collapsed into my Dad's arms.
Her words didn't even register in my brain until it was too late.
As they were embracing I reached down and picked up the piece of paper which she'd dropped. Little did I know that I wouldn't be prepared for what I was going to see.
I looked down at the paper, realising that it was a picture and my hands began to tremble slightly as I looked at the image in front of me.
It was a photo of Sky.
