Things became more and more disturbing ever since that dog showed up. Even though Finn insists it's Jake, you know dang well that dog is anything but alive. And yet here you are, stuck and held hostage, once again. "Isn't this great princess? We have new subjects who can help out with our ice castle!" The Ice Finn pranced happily in the air, flying over the shared room.
"I don't think subjects is the right word..." you whisper in a low tone. "Zombified slaves sounds more appropriate," you mumble, raising your knees to your chest.
The monster indeed helped out with Finn's messed up the dream but in exchange, he asked favors from the two of you, like fetching odd substances or drawing strange runes on the ground stones outside. Unfortunately, you had to comply, anything in exchange for shelter and food. If it wasn't because that cursed dog had his zombies everywhere you could've continued with your plan long ago. "I just hope Marcy is okay..." you lower your chin on your knees.
Finn took notice of your gloomy mood, floating at the same level so you two could meet eye to eye. "Don't feel blue my dear," he pets your head. "I know, let's do something a prince and his princess always do!"
Your face started bubbling in warmth, unsure of what's going through his head but either way you back off nervously. "I'm not gonna kiss you-"
Before you could finish your sentence, Finn took your hand in his as he joyfully lifted you in the air with a small laugh. "Let's ballroom dance~!" Finn chimes, placing your feet over his feet to keep you from falling. Despite the current situation, there's something about this dance that just feels right, like you're meant to be with him, no vampires, no brainwashing crowns, no zombies, and no possessed undead dogs.
"Finn, let's leave all this behind. We could go to HW's village and-" you try to reason with the boy, but he fails to understand your desperation.
"Leave? why would we leave such a wonderful palace?"
You curse under your breath, especially after a specific dog walks into the room, cutting your time short with the ice prince. "Jake you're back from your walk! Wanna go play fetch like in the old days?" Finn floats over the dog, ignoring how uncomfortable it makes you feel whilst trying to scoot away from it.
"No Finn, actually I need (y/n) for a mission." its green eyes aim directly at you.
"What do you want?" you almost spat rudely if it wasn't for your trembling knees.

You drag your feet through the freezing tundra, harsh cold winds and bits of snow flowing past you, holding tight onto the ancient book you recovered not too long ago. Through the exhausting walk, you crumble to your knees, unable to keep moving. What's the point anyways? by the time you get back that cursed dog is still gonna be there and Finn is still gonna be brainwashed. You tried your best to continue forward, hoping that there would be a chance for you to save him, return things to how they were. I mean, vampires ad zombie dogs exist so it's not too far-fetched right?
But after feeling your face grow cold and numb, you found yourself losing any piece of motivation left.
Until you saw him.
"Hey! there's someone alive here, are you okay?" you hear a juvenile voice talk to you, but you refuse to verbally answer.
"Bro we gotta focus on Prismo's mission, we can help the locals later." there's another voice, older and more outgoing.
They're arguing now, disturbing the ice slumber you already mentally prepared yourself for. "Would the both of you shut up and let me sleep!" you unconsciously yell, breaking the argument. You choke back at the sight in front of you, a boy and his dog dressed in winter gear, but what's more striking to you is those pair of crystal blue eyes. "Finn?" you feel tears freeze in the corners of your eyes.
The boy is taken back for a moment, pointing a finger to himself. "How did you know my name?"
You rush to your feet, forgetting the numbness from a minute ago, feeling unknown energy bring you back to life. "It is you, I thought you'd never break from that curse." in an instant you're all over him, wrapping your arms around his shoulders as you pull him in a tight hug. But Finn doesn't return the gesture, kindly pulling you away from him with a confused look.
"I'm sorry but I don't know who you are. I mean, you do sorta look like someone I know but you're so... different." he apologized.
You almost broke down right there, no wonder it was too good to be true. It didn't take long to explain the situation, the ice Finn, the undead dog, and even the reason you're out there. "It wanted me to bring this." you pull out the magic book from the bag you were carrying earlier.
"The enchiridion?!" both of them said at the same time.
"Is this important? I thought it was a dusty old book." you shrug.
"Yeah, this thing is crazy powerful!" the dog exclaims. "Why do they want it for?"
You shook your head, unable to fully answer that question. It's then that you realize where the three of you are at, just the edge over the mountain. "How about you see for yourselves?" you point to the edge.
Finn and Jake share a look of horror at the sight of a swirling pool of toxic green surrounded by frozen humans. "That's why you guys are here right? to help?" you plead. Finn doesn't know why, but he feels the urge to hold your hand and comfort you. "Exactly, we're heroes. Right, Jake?" The dog nods in agreement, pointing to the weird device they brought with them.
That's all you needed to hear.
"I'll gladly help with anything you two need-" your speech slurs at the final word, feeling your mind go blank and your pupils dilate.
"(y/n) what's taking you so long? bring me the book." an eerie voice says inside your head, removing any sense of free will from your body.
"I need to bring the book," you repeat mindlessly.
Finn and Jake panic, trying to keep you away from the artifact but you're possessed by an unnatural strength, tossing them to the side as you made your way back to the ice castle. Jake didn't take this too kindly, already preparing to serve you a knuckle sandwich to the face if it wasn't because Finn stopped him. "Jake don't! They're being manipulated by the lich-" he points out, letting you go as he prepares the maid device instead.
"The only way to save them is getting rid of the lich."
There's not much you remember after meeting the alternate Finn, except for one thing. He made you happy. That's how Finn would've been like if that crown didn't manipulate him? corrupt his personality. You longed to see that smile again, regretting those times you didn't dedicate to talk and know him better. If the alternate Finn and Jake succeed and bring the world back to normal, you know what's the first thing you're gonna do.
