how peculiar! how will that sit with the crystal gems?
--------
yeah, this seems like a fun concept to play with.
if a cluster can have sentience why not a gem of corruption?
But since it's corruption, you can't expect your intelligence to be very...
You and pearl exchanged wide eyed glances between each other and at once, scrambled to the front door, pearl rushing outside first with her spear drawn, while you shoved yourself through the small doorframe clumsily, letting a deep growl emanate from your throat, your eyes and horns flashing in a warning light. It was there, steven was running up to you both. "HELP ME! SAVE ME! HELP ME!" He suddenly jumps onto pearl, clinging to her desperately. "SAVE ME!"
You stared at him wide-eyed.
What's gotten him so frantic??
You swung your head around to address the assailant with hostility. "WHO DARES--" Your voice suddenly came to a halt, your eyes boggled at the appearance of the so called assailants that were circling you, laughing in amusement. "...Steven??"
There was a steven that was purple and a steven with visors.
"What on earth!?" Pearl exclaimed, just as, if not more confused by the sudden turn of events. That was when she was brought back by a poke in the forehead. "Tag! You're it!"
Wha-? You suddenly felt a tap at your midarm. "Hru?" You turn your attention to the source, only to feel another jolt of alarm at a broad smile staring back at you.

"Taaag!~"
You and pearl exchanged glances.
"...care to explain-" there was a pause as steven suddenly poked pearl into the mouth, causing her to recoil in disgust. "-what's going on here?"
"It's steven tag!" Purple steven, or amethyst, exclaims. "Steven tagged you, now you have to turn into steven.
"It's the rules." Visor steven, or garnet calmly adds.
"And it's really really fun!" Spinel steven cheerfully exclaims, holding onto your midarm and playing with it.
"Ugh..." pearl, however, wasn't at all intrigued. "Oh please." She turns her head away with an unyielding glare. steven and spinel pout for a moment before turning to you, with spinel pulling at your midarm. "Well, what about you, (nickname)? Wanna play?"
After your initial shock, you hummed softly in thought. Seems like an interesting twist on the original game... a small smile starts to creep up your muzzle. "well-"
"I don't think that would be a good idea," pearl quickly objected, cutting you off. "(Name)'s still sore from yesterday, and I don't think shape-shifting all willy-nilly's gonna do her any good." At this, the young duo pouted in disappointment. "Awww, no fair!"
You wrinkled your muzzle lightly at pearl, displeased with her sudden interference in your decision, in which she offers an apologetic, yet weary sneer with a shug. You stared hard at her for a second before rolling your eyes, huffing through your nostrils.
Even if her claim was unauthorized, it wasn't necessarily wrong either. In fact, the thought of fully shape-shifting never really crossed your mind.
Can I still shape-shift anyways?
"Sooooooo, that means we're out of players." Amethyst quips, turning to garnet with a mischievous glint. "Get ready for steven tag advance!" Advance?
Ameythyst suddenly launched herself at garnet, who quickly catches her attack and throws her up a few feet up into the air, before jumping up to meet her up into the air, smacking her back into the ground like a volleyball. "Tag."
This sent Ameythyst plummeting back to earth and crashing into the sand, leaving a good-sized crater in the sand. As the dazed Ameythyst picks herself up, garnet smiles in calm triumph.
"Garnet wins." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"~I guess Ican't win every game of steven tag," steven sings with the beat of your pawsteps as rides your back along the beach side with spinel behind him, swaying from side to side in rhythm. "It may be my name, but it just ain't my game-~"
"STOP!"
Suddenly someone abruptly pops out from behind a nearby rock, clad in some kind of military outfit, holding out his hand to you, making you stop with a yelp of alarm. "This is a restricted zone!" He makes shooing motions to you. "Only those with special clearance may enter!"
You stared hard at the uniformed person, with a baffled expression. Who the-? But once you caught the faintest whiff fries off him, you knew EXACTLY who this unorthodox fool was.
"May... we have special clearance?" You hear steven ask, which makes the military man hum and glare in consideration. His eyes flickered between steven and you for several seconds before he answers, slowly. "Granted." ~~~~~~~~~~~~
"What is this for, now?" You asked, glaring at the plastic bags that covered your paws, occasionally kicking out your back legs in an attempt to kick off the plastic bags off of them, grumbling in irritation. "All in the name of preserving the evidence." Ronaldo affirms sternly, rummaging through his duffel bag. You groaned inaudibly, rolling your eyes, while spinel just rubbed her bag clad hands together, fascinated by the smooth feeling.
"Now that you're properly suited, let's investigate!" He hands a pair of binoculars to steven and gestures to the Cliffside. "See those holes?"
Looking at the cliff face, you're surprised to see a large amount of circular holes covering it almost entirely, kind of reminding you of swiss cheese. "Their shape and pattern is repeated over and over." Ronaldo takes out his phone, and snaps a picture of the oddity. "Some might say it's a coincidence..." there was a short pause, as he looked dramatically to the sky, clenching his fist. "I say there's something... more."
Unconsciously, you sniff the air slightly, humming softly in suspicion. That is a bit sketchy...
"Like what?" Steven asks, apperantly not grasping the mystery. "A double coincidence?"
"You'd already be in the know if you followed my blog, keep beach city wierd!" He shows him his screen. Peeking over his shoulder, you see none other than the oddblog itself; keep beach city wierd. "I document all the wierd things that happen in beach city; you can't trust facts and books, I'm out here hunting the TRUTH!" as you expected it, filled with a bunch of conspiracies and theories, "truths" and all of that nonsense.
What you didn't expect was to see the picture of you and spinel from the day you met in the top page. "Your alien behemoth and her cub are by far the most popular on my blog."
He suddenly looks over at you both in interest, watching as spinel struggled to itch her head thanks to the plastic bags that dulled her scratching. "Speaking of which, how has her child been developing? Any changes?"
Steven blinked, scratching the back of his neck. "Uhm-"
