"Darkness is a subjective word.
It all depends on what your viewpoint is
and how you live life."

~~~~~~
A week had passed since your encounter with Zhongli and Childe at Wangshu Inn. They had left a few days ago saying that they needed to go back to Liyue. Thankfully, during your extended stay at Wangshu Inn, Childe had paid for all of the groups expenses so no one except him lost any mora.
"So where should we go now?" Paimon flitted around waiting for an answer.
"I think there are some commissions that need to be completed in Mondstat," Aether told the other three. "We could head there."
Xiao averted his eyes and stayed quiet to their surprise. Ever since the three of them had started completing commissions together, Xiao would at least have some sort of comment about what they were doing. He would either talk about how easy it would be or for them to leave it to him to complete.
"Xiao are you okay?" You questioned, worried about why he averted his eyes the moment that Aether had mentioned Mondstat.
"Yes," Xiao sighed. "Lets just get going."
~~~~~

The four of them had made their way to Mondstat after using a teleport way point that directed them exactly inside the city of freedom.

"Aether," a brunette headed girl yelled, her hands waving.

"Hi Amber," Aether waved back as soon as Amber had stopped right in front of them.

"I didn't think that you would come back to Mondstat so soon."

"Well we came back to see if there were any commissions that were available for us to complete."

Amber stared at you and Xiao, "So these are new companions that you had made in Liyue?"

"Yup?" Aether nodded before introducing each of you. "This is y/n and that's Xiao. The girl that came to greet us is Amber."

"The 6th time windglider champion of Mondstat," Amber added with a large grin on her face.

Amber and Aether chatted for a while leaving you, Xiao, and Paimon clueless. The three of you that were ignored just stared at the two who were conversing like no one else was there.

"Hello beautiful," a blue hair man with an eye patch over his eye kissed your hand.

"Enough," Xiao growled, slapping the hand of the boy away from your own.

"Kaeya, what are you doing here?" Amber walked up to the boy.

"Did you forget what Jean said before?" The boy named Kaeya said. "Remember she said to send Aether to her office the moment that he comes back since we need his help."

"Oh no!" Amber cried as she gripped Aether's wrist. "I'll explain to you on the way. Please come with me Aether. Kaeya can you take care of Aether's friends please?"

Before Kaeya had a chance of even give a reply, Amber had dragged Aether along with her towards the Headquarters of the Knights of Favonious. Kaeya sighed saying something along the lines about how forgetful Amber was under his breath. Now, it was just you, Xiao, and Kaeya awkwardly standing around since Paimon had followed after Aether and Amber.

"Well I'm Kaeya, the Calvary Captain of the Knights of Favonious."

"I'm y/n and this is Xiao," you smiled.

Right after the introductions, the awkwardness once again took hold. No one had any idea of what to do since the friends that connected them had left.

"Well how about we go to Angel Share tavern," Kaeya offered, trying to break the ice. "Its a nice place to talk."

"Sure," you replied for both you and Xiao.

Kaeya led the two of you towards the tavern that he was talking about while Xiao continued to give deadly glared towards the blue haired boy. Though somehow unfortunately for Xiao, Kaeya didn't seem to be bothered by the death-filled glares that the adeptus had been giving him.

"

And here we are," Kaeya opened the door to the tavern.

Entering the tavern, you were greeted by a familiar red haired man wearing a black coat in front of a table.

"Master Diluc?" You questioned as soon as you saw his familiar face.

You had met him around a year ago when you had healed him after he had fought some fatui and got injured. He had been drastically out numbered during the battle and sustained injuries. Though thankfully, he was able to beat them all up.

After you had healed him, you had talked to him for a while and he introduced himself as Master Diluc. He had also told you that if ever you were at Mondstat and needed any help, you should go to Dawn Winery and mention his name. He called it a favor as repayment for healing him.

"Ah," Diluc smiled. "Hello y/n. Finally decided to visit Mondstat I see?"

"Diluc smiling," Kaeya fell to the ground in utter shock.

"Are you alright?" You asked, kneeling in the ground as you worried about the man who had fallen.

"Don't worry about him," Diluc placed two drinks on the table in front of him. "Here this is on the house."

"Hello Master Diluc," Xiao sat on one of the seats, jealously clearly leaking from his voice. "I see you know y/n."

"Yes," Diluc replied with a similar tone. "We met about a year ago."

"Thats nice."

"It sure is."

The two continued to give tense smiles at each other while you nursed Kaeya back to health. During all of this, Kaeya continued to mutter how surprising it was for Diluc to smile. He apparently rarely smiled especially around Kaeya so when he had smiled, it had shocked the Calvary Captain into nearly fainting.

The tavern was soon filled with an aura of animosity which had made everyone stare at the two males who were giving still smiles to one another.

"Lets go y/n," Xiao grabbed your wrist and pulled him along with you outside the door of the tavern leaving Diluc and Kaeya as well as the other customers.

"Wait Xiao," you tried to say.

However, you were ignored and he continued to pull you along with him. Not only that, his grip on your wrist was starting to grow tighter.

"Xiao."

Unfortunately, it seemed like he couldn't even hear you.

"Xiao!" You finally shouted after you exited the city. "What's going on? I'm not an idiot. I know you're keeping things from me, things I have the right to know. You always act like we've met before but I don't remember you. I'm trying not to let this get to the best of me but your actions have been so confusing. I don't understand Xiao. What are you keeping from me? I hate being left in the dark."

The moment that you had broke your wrist free from Xiao's grip, he stopped and stared at the ground like he didn't know what to do. He wanted to protect you and all that it led to was you getting angry at him. However, he knew that it was his fault. It would be normal for anyone to react badly towards actions like that.

"Y/n..."
