CHAPTER 6
It was around seven in the evening when one of the pack warriors came to Quade.
"Alpha wants to see you." He said, bowed and left. The message was simple and short, and enough for the men who was busy training.
Quade was at the training grounds with Connor but this time they were battling each other. They had been going at it for past one and a half hours and neither of the two wolves was backing down.
Connor might have looked like a fool to some people but he was well respected in the pack, not just because he was going to be Quade's beta in future but also because he was a brave warrior and an exceedingly intelligent man.
Despite not holding any official position at the pack, Alpha Mateo still sought for his opinion when it came to strategies and negotiations. If Quade was not capable of being the next alpha and hadn't proved myself to be the one who deserved it, Mateo would have made Connor the next in line.
In Redcoat pack things like blood relations could be easily outdone by caliber and capabilities, therefore despite not coming from the beta bloodline, Connor was training to be one as Ansel wasn't of even age until recently.
Once Quade and Connor got the message, they made their way towards the Alpha's office, though upon reaching Connor mentioned that he would stay behind and wait for Quade to be done with the meeting.
"Nonsense, if I was called specifically when I was with you then that means he wants you too." Quade declared and made his way towards the door.
Soon both the young wolves were sitting in front of Quade's father and by the looks of it, they knew it was going to be a long meeting and the discussion would be regarding something serious.
Mateo did not speak for another ten minutes and it started to irk Quade a bit.
"What have you called us for Alpha?" Quade asked in a respected manner, yet his impatience was dripping which nearly made Connor chuckle.
Mateo looked at his son and then sighed again, this time turning towards the two boys properly, taking his time gathering his word.
'What could it be that made him of all people speechless,' Quade thought a little troubled but mostly amused.
"I have called you for an important discussion today," Alpha Mateo finally started and looked extremely troubled.
He was about to say something when Connor intervened.
"Maybe I should step out for a bit and let you two talk?"
"Sit back kid." The Alpha ordered tiredly, "it concerns you too."
Quade looked at Connor to see if he had any idea about what it was but Connor just shrugged and turned back towards his Alpha.
Once everyone was settled in again, Alpha Mateo got up and made his way towards the window that Quade's mother had got built in there so that her mate would keep an eye at the grounds of the pack and also so that he wouldn't suffocate inside the office one day.
After a while Mateo took a rather heavy breath and resumed whatever he wanted to say.
"One of our pack members wants to leave the pack."
Up on hearing the words Quade sprung on my feet and let out a threatening growl. He was already aware of who it was and what was going on now.
"There is no way in hell he is leaving the pack father."
