Scene 3
Setting: Camera pans down the evergreen trees until it spots the party of girls going down the hill and into the clearing/path entrance. They are talking, but Bonnie seems loudest.
Bonnie: Oh my gosh I’m so excited! What if we see a ghost?
Alaina: How about we don’t?
Cassandra (turns around so they form a loose circle): Here’s the path. (points) We’re going to go up that way, up to the pond, probably.
Carina: Well, what are we waiting for?
Kat: Your mom. (laughs)
Carina shoots her a mean glare.
Bonnie: Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go!
Alaina: Let’s not…
Entertainer (jumps out from behind trees): BOO! See, you need an adult to protect you from creepers like me!
Cassandra: Get off my property!
Entertainer: Okay, I’m still getting paid, right?
Cassandra: If you keep harassing us you’ll never find out!
Entertainer: Okay… (walks back into house)
Cassandra: Gosh, now that the nuisance is gone…
Bonnie: But I’m not gone!
Cassandra (sighs): Never mind…
Cassandra starts walking in the direction she pointed in. All girls follow except Alaina, who hesitates. Alaina sees she is being left behind and runs so she’s in the middle of the procession. Girls walk in silence for a few seconds. Alaina looks terrified. Bonnie looks excited. Cassandra looks determined, being the group leader. Kat walks close to Cassandra with no particular expression. Carina quietly talks with no particular speech to Zariella who is listening intently.
Bonnie (loudly): I’m so excited! (girls shush her)
Cassandra: Be quiet, you don’t want to wake up the ghosts!
Alaina: G-g-ghosts?
Cassandra: Well, this place is haunted.
Bonnie (as though she doesn’t understand): Be… quiet?
Kat: Yes. Be quiet. As in shut your pie-hole!
Bonnie: What’s a pie-hole?
Kat: Never mind…
Cassandra: Shush! We’re getting closer to the actual murder site.
Alaina (grabs hold of Zariella’s arm in fear): The… murder site…
Zariella: Get off of me!
Alaina: Sorry, sorry. (doesn’t let go)
Zariella (sighs): Whatever.
Girls walk for a few more seconds, each of them looking scared and interested at the same time. A crunching noise sounds in the distance.
Alaina (jumps and clings onto Zariella in a hug): What was that!?
Zariella: Get off! (tries to shake Alaina off of her but fails)
Alaina: I’m telling you, I heard something in the woods. That way! (points then puts arm back around Zariella)
