Haunting in Heidi's Woods (A Scripted Movie)

Scene 3

Cassandra: Yeah, Zariella, this is nothing to kid about.

Zariella (exclaims): I wasn’t kidding!

Cassandra: Shh!

Zariella shoots Cassandra an angry expression.

Cassandra (whispers): Okay everyone, be very quiet. We don’t want to wake the dead. (smiles evilly)

A horrified expression crosses over Alaina’s face.

Alaina: Wake the… dead?

Cassandra: Well who else would be here?

Alaina: The living?

Cassandra: Nope, only Heidi Smith’s ghost.

Ghost (voice only, breaths): Childrennnnnn.

All girls’ eyes widen and terrified expressions cross their faces. They move closer together and look in the direction of the voice.

Alaina (whispers and clings onto Zariella harder): Ohmygod, ohmygod, ohmygod, ohmygod…

Ghost (voice): I know some of you come to seek me. Others do not wish to be anywhere near my presence. I am the ghost of Heidi Smith, sentenced to this terrible fate for the murdering of my beloved husband. But now that you have found me, I shall release my wrath upon you. You foolish teens needn’t live anymore. You will be brought to the same death as me, killed by the point of an axe while being washed in grief from the casualty of your friend.

Carina: W-w-what f-friend?

Ghost (suddenly appears and grabs Alaina, brandishing the ax): Your friend is gonna get it. (in a suggesting, yet devious tone) Maybe one of you should act against me?

Alaina squeaks, unable to talk because she’s is terrified so bad.

Cassandra: Guys… what do we do? (extreme terror shows on face for her friend)

Ghost (in a taunting tone): No one? No wants to help their dear little friend? (moves ax closer to Alaina)

Bonnie: Someone do something!

Zariella: Well, I’m no good in a fight… I have noodle arms…

Cassandra (on the verge of tears): Stop it, Zariella! This isn’t a time to be silly!

Zariella: Oh no, I was serious.

Cassandra: Guys this is my entire fault! (collapses to ground in tears) It’s my fault for bringing you out here. I never should of thought of the idea!

Carina tries to coax Cassandra into getting back her, while reassuring her that it isn’t her fault and sitting on the ground won’t help.

Alaina: HELP ME GUYS!

Bonnie: Not it! (puts finger on nose)

Cassandra: Bonnie! Shut up! Just shut up! You’re not helping.

Bonnie: Well sitting on the ground isn’t doing much either.

Ghost: Your friend has a minute left to live and you’re still bickering? Foolish children…

Alaina (is barely able to make a sound): A minute!?

Cassandra (wipes tears an stands up, looking determined): It’s my fault we’re in this mess. Take me instead.

All girls, except Alaina (not in unison): No! We can’t let either of you die!

Alaina is pushed onto the ground and screams.

Ghost: Your friend has made her decision. She is dying by my hand as a sacrifice to you all to save another. But she shall fear not, for she is getting the higher side of the bargain. She shan’t have to live this deathly night through. I will kill her now and she won’t be trapped in these woods, in fear of me finding her. She can get it over quick and easy now, and not have to grieve for her other friends, whereas you will all be placed with these burdens. Let us go my pretty!

Cassandra gasps and is snatched by the ghost. They disappear. Carina screams a high-pitched horror movie scream. Kat stays silent. Alaina is still lying on the ground, crying now.

Zariella: She’s… gone.

Kat: Cassandra…

Carina: Guys-

Kat: She was my best friend…

Carina (worried): Guys-

Bonnie (loudly, breaking the quiet atmosphere): She died!

Kat (angrily): No dip, butthead! Could you learn to be a little sensitive? My best friend is dead and all you can do is obnoxiously yell, (nagging tone) “she died!?” What is wrong with you!?

Bonnie (mumbles): My mom told me a lot of things were…

Kat: Just shut up! Leave! Go away!

Bonnie (quietly): But Katty…

Kat: No! I always hated it when you called me that! Leave!

Carina: Guys-

Kat (irritated): What is it Carina!?

Carina (gravely): Without Cassandra… we don’t know how to get back… And I’m getting kinda tired…
