Mating

After we arrived at the Silver Fang’s pack house, we were settled in a guest room for both Cloud and I. I’m nervous about sleeping with Cloud again but also happy that I won’t have to be alone in such a big pack house. Seriously, it looks like a mansion. Alec looks at us. “We have arranged your guest room, Alphas. Michael will take your bags up to your room. Please follow me, dinner is about to be served,” Alec says and Cloud takes my hand. Michael and some other guy take our bags and we follow Alec to another room. There, I see about forty pack members. At the head of the long table, I see the Alpha stand up. I bow my head slightly, in show of respect and submission.
“There is no need for that, Miss Vail,” the Alpha says. I look up and I notice his gaze on Cloud. “Mr. Hall.” He nods.
“Alpha Loup,” he says. Alpha Loup gestures us to come up to him and Alec walks to his Alpha, with Cloud and me not so far behind. I hide behind Cloud; most of the pack members have their eyes on me. Why is that?
We arrive at the head of the table and I see empty seats. Alec takes one next to his Alpha. Cloud pulls my chair back and I sit. He pushes it back to the table and kisses the back of my head. He takes his seat next to mine. I notice that Cloud has taken the chair next to Alpha Loup. I look at the Alpha and his eyes shine with amusement at Cloud’s behavior. His eyes divert to mine and I look back into them. His eyes are a soft brown. Alpha Loup clears his throat.
“So, Miss Vail if I may ask, how did you and your mate meet?” he asks as the first course is served. My stomach grumbles and I blush, realizing how hungry I am. Cloud huffs and I nudge his leg with mine. He looks down at me.
Be nice, I mouth.
He touches you, he’s dead, he mouths back at me. I roll my eyes at his childish behavior. I look at Alpha Loup and he smiles gently at me.
I tell him how Cloud and I met. When I told him that he threw me over his shoulder and went all caveman on me, he laughed loudly.
“Well, I wouldn’t expect anything less from a male wolf that just found his mate. May I ask, has he marked you?”
Cloud growls loudly. “That’s none of your business,” he snarls. Alpha Loup looks at Cloud with mild interest.
“I’ll take it as a no,” he says and looks at me. “Have you shifted?”
“I-”
“No, she hasn’t,” Cloud quickly interrupts. I look at him and he looks at me with pleading eyes. I sigh but I don’t tell Alpha Loup that I’m the white wolf.
Dinner continues in silence and after we’re done, Alec takes Cloud and I to our room. We go up the stairs and we follow Alec down the hall. He opens a door at the right and steps aside. “Here you go,” he says and we step in. The walls are a light gray with darker curtains covering the windows. There’s a four post king sized bed with soft gray sheets. There’s a door to the right, which I assume that leads to the bathroom. Our luggage stands next to the bed. The door closes behind us. Cloud walks past me and sits on the edge of the bed.
