Why Did You Save Me.....?

"how do I use these things?" He held up his spoon, fork, and knife.

Niki quickly had him put it down for fear of him poking himself again and then explained tableware and utensils. She told him that the strange disk in front of him was called a plate.

The weird see through thing was called a glass.

"Sometimes you call it a cup, but the formal name is a glass." Niki had told him.

Minx felt sympathy towards Tommy when she had heard Tommy ask what a King is.
It had really knocked the wind out of her when the words left his tongue.

Now to most, it might seem like

"oh there just overreacting! He just doesn't know what King meant!" However....

By thirteen, you should have a pretty good understanding of what everyday items are called. Even though Tommy had reached that age, he was quite young when his parents had died. He didn't get a normal education like others. He would always get in trouble due to his lack of reading. He may have the body of a 13 year old, but his mental age was still that of a toddlers, maybe even younger!

Soon, night fell and Tommy knocked on Niki's door. She opened it and let him inside.

He sat on the bed as he gazed around the room.

It was the same as his expect there was a desk where you could use colors and put them on something white. Tommy walked over to the white thing and held it up.

"That's called a canvas, you can paint colors onto it," Niki said when she saw what Tommy was holding. Tommy looked around the room and saw an open bag with Niki's things in it.

"Your not leaving tomorrow are you?"
Tommy croaked.

Niki fell silent and her eyes wandered to the floor. Tommy just went over to her and hugged her tight. She did the same back.

"I'll be leaving in the morning. Now I want you to promise me you'll try your best to get along with them, if you have any questions then you can tell them, they won't mind. Also the guards can't hurt you, ok? Your perfectly safe! I will do my best to visit as much as I can, stay safe" Niki said.

Tommy just nodded as he felt tears prick at the corners o his eyes.

He was going to miss her and she was going to miss him. Tommy didn't know when he would see her again and hoped that it wasn't forever.

He lifted his head up and looked into her eyes. She just softly smiled while brushing his hair.

A memory came back to him.

A charming smile, a woman's giggle, and a brush against the cheek...

Tommy snapped back when he felt wet, hot tears streaming down his face. He quickly wiped them away and let go.

Niki looked at him with concern but decided to ignore it. "I have something for you,"

she pulled out a leather pouch. She then pulled another brown pouch out of it.

"I know that you stole it from an old man a while ago, I want you to return it to him. Ok?" She asked
Tommy took the pouch then gazed up at her.
He silently nodded.

"Ok.." he said.

Niki pulled something else from the pouch. She held it out and began talking again.

"You can keep this, while I'm away, just in case you want a little reminder that I'm always with you, no matter what," she held out a necklace in a shape of a heart. The jewel was an Amber.

Tommy grasped his hands around it and put it around his neck. He lifted it up to his face and immediately grinned.

"Thanks Niki!! This is awesome!!"
Tommy exclaimed. Niki just giggled.

She then walked Tommy to his room to say goodnight.

"I want you to promise me something.."

Tommy looked up at her as she sat down on the bed next to him.

"Promise me, that you won't do such a reckless thing again, promise me you'll be safe.." She raised her hand then held out her pinkie.

Tommy felt more tears come to his eyes.

He paused for a moment then took a deep breath.

He then wrapped his pinkie around hers.

"I pinkie promise, Niki..."

Tommy pulled the covers over him as he closed his eyes and fell asleep, the Amber still residing around his neck.

He was also still wearing clothes-
