And I'm so furious at you for making me feel this way but, what can I say? You're gorgeous.
As the students descended to their respective house common rooms, Harry continued to think about what Professor Dumbledore had said about the dementors. As Harry approached the Gryffindor common room, he saw Gryffindor students began to crowd the door, and he could hear someone saying the password, but the Fat Lady was still not opening the door. Harry came to the front of the crowd. "Fortuna major, "Harry said, but the Fat lady continued to sing loudly at the glass she was holding.
"No, no, wait! Watch this," the Fat Lady replied, and began 'singing', which resembled screaming more than anything, but the glass did not move. She looked between the glass and the students who were growing more impatient with each passing second. She then hit the glass against the wall in her painting, breaking the glass. "Look at that," she said to the students, "with just my voice!" As she giggled to herself, YN walked up the Gryffindor s waiting, and Harry crossed his arms.
"Fortuna Major," he said, annoyance and impatience seeping from his voice.
"Yes, alright. Go in," she said to them, her annoyance with their disinterest clear.
"Thank you," Harry replied, and walked through the now open door. Y/N followed in after, along with the
remaining Gryffindor students. Seamus walked next to Harry, them both complaining about the Fat Lady's antics to each other. Y/N caught up to Harry as Seamus continued on to their room. Harry stopped, and Ron and Hermione stopped next to them. "Are you okay?" Y/N asked, the trio looking up at her since she was slightly taller than them. Harry nodded, and Hermione's eyebrows furrowed together. Ron continued to look at her, the shock that Y/N was still speaking to them apparent on his face. "I'm fine, really." Harry assured her. Y/N nodded, and she turned towards the door, and the boys moved towards the staircase. Hermione stopped her though. She grabbed her arm, signaling Y/N to turn back around to face her.
"Why do you care?" Hermione questioned, and Y/N thought for a moment, slightly taken aback. "Because I'm a good friend, and I'm not going to let my friends get hurt. Besides, I saw that stupid kid picking on Harry." She explained, and crossed her arms over her chest. Hermione rolled her eyes at this, knowing exactly who she was referring to. This explanation wasn't enough for Hermione. "Malfoy has been picking on us since first year. What, do you like him or something?" She asked, and Y/N laughed at that.
"No, I don't have have a crush on Malfoy. Tell me you're joking," Y/N replied, still laughing to herself. Now Hermione was really annoyed, her brown eyes glaring at Y/N.
"Not Malfoy, you idiot. Harry," she clarified, and YN nodded in understanding.
"Okay, first, I don't have a crush on Harry either. Second, did you just call me an idiot?" YN replied. "I happen to be at the top of my class." She finished, smirking slightly to herself. She knew she was getting on the girl's nerves, but she didn't care. She was having fun.
"Well so am I." Hermione retorted, trying to gather What to say next. Y/N smiled to herself and answered before Hermione could say anything else. "Cool, maybe I'll catch you in the library sometime. Anyway, I've got to be going. I have plans." She finished. Hermione wasn't done yet, though.
"With who? Another girl of yours? Or have you stuck with the one from the train? I know it's only been a few hours." Hermione smirked at her own comment, and YN giggled at Hermione's abrasiveness.
"Well, actually I've got plans with the twins, but I'm glad to know you've been paying attention. I'll catch you later, brown eyes." Y/N replied cheekily, turning on her heels and walking towards the door. Hermione stood, shocked as she watched YN leave. She didn't let the interaction keep her, so she turned slowly towards the staircase and made her way up to her room. As she climbed each step, she thought about the girls' conversation. People didn't usually speak to her that way, probably because their wit wasn't quick enough to come up with a good response. Y/N wasn't mean to Hermione, if anything Hermione had been the rude party in their conversation. Y/N was intriguing to her and she couldn't figure out why. As she reached the door to her shared room, she smiled to herself. Arguing with Y/N was actually kind of fun.
