Fuck me sideways.
I bang my head on the table of the library, earning an irritated 'Shh' from the librarian.
It's been a week since my siblings and I began attending Miyagi Prefectures public high school, Karasuno. And somehow I've managed to catch up in most subjects, but I have been failing hopelessly with mathematics, though that's not a surprise. Groaning, I lay my head to the side glancing up at Kiyoko, she looks down at my dramatic self with a small smile. "You almost got it right (Y/N), don't give up now." She said reassuringly.
Kiyoko has spent the last hour using her independent study period, all to tutor me in the library. 'Stop complaining (Y/N), she has gone out of her way to help you, woman up!'
Sitting up straight and stretching my arms, I pick up my black pen. "Your right Kiyoko. I'll give the formula another shot. Thank you so much for your help." I say with a smile, as a light blush decorates her porcelain cheeks.
Fifteen minutes later, I made some sense of the homework and I leave the library with a book full of notes and my internal battery life running on five percent. I thank Kiyoko for all her help. "You have been doing so much to help me catch up, I feel like I need to do something in return to repay your kindness. If there is anything I can do for you, just let me know." I say with a bow. Kiyoko reassures me by saying a 'That's what friends are for', which made me feel giddy inside.
I remember walking down these halls at the start of the week, feeling nothing but dread, but I've already become familiar with a lot of the school, along with many of the students in it. I guess that's what happens when you are the new kid, sadly.
"Are you sitting with anyone for lunch today?" Kiyoko asks, breaking the comfortable silence. Shaking your head, no, she continues. "Would you like to join me?"
I happily take the offer, it would look pathetic eating alone anyway. That or I would have just gone and hidden in the back of the library. Equally as pathetic.
After putting our belongings away in designated lockers, Kiyoko heads to the cafeteria. "I'm going to go get some food to eat, wait here." She stated plainly, walking into the dense sea of people.
'No objections here man. Fuck that noise.' I think as I happily wait outside the busy dining area. Quietly minding my own business and nursing my homemade bento box.
Then shrieks came from outside. I stare out the opened door in the hallway, shocked. "What the..." I walk towards the entrance, curious. 'Of course, I go towards the screams. You idiot, this is how people die in horror films!' Regardless, I peer outside scanning my surroundings. I see a familiar puff of carrot-orange hair.
"Hinata?" I question walking closer. He looked up at me with that innocent face, puffy-eyed and tears streaming down his cheeks. And behind him, kneeling on the ground, looking equally as devastated is, of course, my sister.
"What the bloody crap happened to you guys?!" I shriek.
The picture before me was less than elegant.
Two teens, bawling their eyes out amongst a sea of rice. Rice decorated with neglected hotdog squids that I went out of my way to cook. 'What a waste of perfectly good food.'
McKenzie picks up one of the discarded squids, cradling it in her hands. She sits crouched down with Hinata grieving the loss of her lunch as they pick off some grass clippings. "You had a good run buddy." She says sniffling.
Again...
What the actual fuck happened?!
"Ahh, hey guys. Is everything okay?" I say, unsure of what to do. This is so flipping weird.
