Defending Jacob: The Aftermath Book 1

The car pulled into the driveway of their Newton home, it was there last night in this house together, the last night as a normal family in this home Andy thought. He than realized they weren't a normal family anymore, maybe they never where at all. They walked in the back door after getting out of the car.

"Jacob I put a bed for you in my old office, you tv and video games are in there so you can use them." Andy tells him.

"Ok thanks dad, can I ask you something?" Jacob ask

"Sure thing what is it?" Andy said.

"It's about Mom. She just seems off and again, I remember a lot dad, after Mexico she didn't talk to me much she looked at me funny all the time. Than in the car she asked me if I killed Ben, I kept telling her no, I asked her to slow down. Really is she ok?" He said.

"Jacob are you sure you didn't just have a nightmare, that your remembering it all wrong." He asked.

"No dad, at first I thought maybe it was a nightmare but than I kept remembering it when I was awake in the hospital. I see the drive in my sleep dad mom she needs help, I didn't kill Ben please believe me." He says.

"Jacob I know you didn't kill Ben, I believe you, your mom she knows you didn't either, she just needs to see the facts more I'm working on it." He tells his son.

"Your working on it, dad what does that mean?" Jacob asked.

"Look Leonard Patz, he was murdered ok, I don't think he killed Ben. I know you didn't either, I'm working with someone to figure it all out. Not just for you, but your mom she needs to see the facts. Jacob she loves you but she is lost in some ways ok." Andy says.

"When the nurse is here sometimes, I have to leave and go talk to the person who is helping me with this, can we keep it just between us. Don't mention it to your mom ok." Andy tells him.

"Um ok dad, sure are you guys ok?" Jacob asks.

"Yes we are fine Jacob, just a lot going on with the move and she doesn't remember everything like you. She loves you ok don't doubt that ever." Andy said.

"I know dad, I'm just still nervous around her, I know mom loves me but she was acting weird I'm scared if that happens again." Jacob said.

"Jacob I won't anything happen to you or anything like that to happen again." Andy assures him.

Just than Laurie comes downstairs, she starts making something for dinner. She doesn't speak to Andy much at all which is odd. Jacob is thinking both his parents are keeping things from him. Jacob phones buzzes and he gets a text he doesn't know who's number is contacting him. He looks down at the text, deletes it after reading not wanting to worry his mom or dad. Anonymous "so your out of the hospital really I hoped you would die. Now what the fuck, make sure you dad and his little girlfriend stops looking into me and Ben's murder you where supposed to go to jail and I was supposed to get away with it all. Fuck Jake watch your back and keep your mouth fucking shut." Jacob turned of his phone. He looked as his dad think girlfriend what does they even mean, maybe just Detective Duffy is helping him he thought. He just let that part go.

They all ate dinner together, nothing much salad and pasta. Laurie went upstairs to bed said goodnight to Jacob and nothing to Andy. Even Andy started wondering what was going on with her. His mind was thinking "she knows maybe she looked on your phone more than you thought." He shut that thought out. His phone went off "Andy I miss you, I hope Jacob is safe at home and doing better. I know for the  next few days you have a lot going on so I think it best if stay quiet for a while till you are all settled in the new house. Goodnight Andy with a kiss emoji." It was Charlotte something seemed off with her. She would text him throughout the day he even had texted her a few times and she didn't respond. He knew Laurie had seen Dr. Brown today, something was off more with Laurie and Charlotte he was worried.

He grabbed his phone and began to text "Charlotte honey it's ok, Jacob is resting on a bed in my old office and I'm sleeping on the couch. I wish you where here with me. I'm coming to see you tomorrow night after the move when Jacob's nurse comes to see him. Laurie is going away with her friend Monday for a week. We will be together I don't want to lose you, I love you." Andy pressed send.

He was watching the tv 30 minutes later she still hadn't responded. 2 hours later and the house was quiet Andy was about ready to go to her house this wasn't like her at all. When his phone went off "Andy don't come tomorrow ok, the move is a lot and Jacob needs you right now, just trust me on this please. I think Laurie going away is great she needs the time away. I just, I love you but think it safer if we keep a distance from each other." Andy was shocked something was definitely up with Charlotte and this time he wasn't texting her to find out. He got into his car and rushed to her home. Parking in the back the lights where off in the house, as he went to the back door, it opened Charlotte pulled Andy inside closing the door. He grabbed her and kissed her passionately. She pushed away from him.

"Andy what the fuck are you doing here. You have to go home." She said.

"No why are you running from me what happened?" He asked.

"Andy it's not safe we need to cool it I love you but your married you need to go home." She said again. She had tears in her eyes

"Please tell me don't cry, I love you I'm not leaving till you tell me what is going on." Andy said as he hugged her close to him rubbing her back with his hand.

"Someone had seen us Andy, I got a message today, it warned me to stop looking into Bens murdered that what I find out will destroy everyone. It said I know about you and Mr. Barber too if you keep digging I'll ruin all of you." She told him. She showed him the text on her phone.

"Who would have sent this, Derek maybe I think he's the killer.  I did go speak to him about Ben. I'm sure he did it. I'm not leaving you ever." Andy said as he kissed her once more.

"Andy I can't hurt your son like this, he has been through a lot, Laurie she has too. I can't hurt anyone I don't want to hurt you either." She said with tears.

"Charlotte, Laurie won't speak to me I think she done with the marriage. I know her and she doesn't have love for me at all. Jacob he's ok he wouldn't be upset, I want you I love you." He said.

She turned to walk away from him as he grabbed her left hand and pulled her into his arms holding her close. He kissed passionately and gently, this time she didn't stop him. She could feel him in his pants wanting her. She undid his pants pulling off his shirt he picked her bridal style. He carried her upstairs to her bed. He kissed every inch of her body, she moaned from how he made her feel and was inside of her pushing into her deeper. They matched each other perfectly. Till they both couldn't take anymore and let go at the same time. They fell asleep in each other arms. Andy set his alarm earlier to make it home before anyone would wake and the movers get to his old house.

Just than Andy's phone went off it was 4am Charlotte was sleeping peacefully he kissed her forehead she woke up.

"Baby I have to leave but I'll be back tonight ok." He said

"Hmmm, ok Andy, too bad you couldn't stay longer might be fun." she said as she kissed his pecks.

Andy rolled her over on her back and begun kissing her again. He loved being with her fully he had never felt this way in his life. He didn't have to lie with her. He felt her inside and wanted her more each time. When they where done, he told he was sorry he had to go. Kissing her, they told each other I love you. Andy left getting into his car he look at his phone there was text anonymous number "I hope you had fun last night Barber cause when I'm done with you, you will have lost everything and everyone you love including Charlotte, Bens aunt you have been caught red handed. It's my game now my rules." Andy just looked at the text not sure he didn't think Derek was this stupid. He got in his car and headed to his old home. He thought about his next move find out who this person was threatening his happy future. He never excepted what he would find.
