Defending Jacob: The Aftermath Book 1

No! Andy scream's again waking up from the the memories haunting him. He can't seem to let it go, the past year the day it all ended in the park. Seeing them lying on the ground not moving. He goes downstairs opening his laptop, searching google for the article's in the paper. The headlines reads Rifkin Murder Case finally Closed with a Twist! Andy stares at the article tears in his eyes, knowing everyone who still doubted Jacob knows the truth. Jacob has his life back, his therapy has finally gone well they are all happy again. He begins to read the article, as he remembers speeding his was through traffic to the park. 

One Year earlier.

Andy is panicking at what Charlotte is up too, knowing Laurie is on her way there now. That Cliff is going to the park. Andy pulled up to the park and went running down the path hearing their screams.

Charlotte called the police once she left the gas station in Newton, she stopped to grab something she needed at.to meet Cliff. She drove her heart was racing with her nerves going wild. She leaves her car with more copies of evidence hidden in her bags. Locking the door she starts her way down the trail. She every step, she is feeling like her heart is going to explode. She's nervous but her safety is helping. She's got her gun tucked in the back of her jeans, with her sweater pulled down. The closer she gets to the spot, she see Cliff standing in the trees on the top of the hill that overlook the pond where Ben's body was found. Charlotte can hear the crunching of gravel beneath her feet as she makes her way to Cliff. Laurie texts Charlotte letting her know she's at the park and hidden in the trees, she can see Cliff waiting.

"Charlotte, good you came alone?" Cliff glares at her.

Charlotte annoyed with him. "Cliff for fuck sakes, yes I came alone. No one knows about this, what do you want for me?"

Cliff laughs "Don't play stupid with me Scar, you know what I came for, give me the evidence."

"I want some answers first. Why did you go after Ben. He was just a kid?" she asks.

Cliff laughs "you keep thinking your nephew was this good kid, you're all wrong."

"He was a good kid, you took him away from his family. Than you framed another kid for something you did. You a monster! Why did you kill him. Tell me and I'll give you what you want." She snaps

"You know exactly why, I spend years in a prison all thanks you and your family." he yelled

"You killed the guy I was going to marry, you kill my daughter you took away my family. My future. So that's why you wanted more revenge." She asks

"Revenge, we are supposed to spend our lives together. The moment you walked away from me. You gave up your right for any happiness in your future." He says.

"So this about me and you Cliff. Your insane you abused me. I got away cause I needed to be safe. I knew you were fucked yo in the head I never thought you ever take another persons life though." She yells

"Why did you kill Ben it's has to be more about me?" She questions him.

"Your nephew was a shithead. You, your brother thinking he was angel. Derek told me what Ben did to Sarah, how he threaten her. Derek asked me to scared Ben off Sarah. That Sarah was Derek's girlfriend or would have been." He says

"Your insane, Derek is better off never being around you ever again. I'll give you the evidence you want, but I have my conditions." she tells him.

"What are those?" he laughs.

"I give you the evidence, this ends now. No more revenge on me, or anyone in my life. Leave town never come back." she says.

"Who in your life are you worrying about, yourself or Andy and his son. I know you don't like his wife. You probably wish she wasn't around so you and Barber can live happily ever after." he says.
