Your nose crinkled in frustration. You quickly fold the new shirt and finish folding the rest of the dried clothes up while putting the remaining clothes in the washer into the dryer. The wine glass, now empty, hung loosely from your relaxed hand. Your opposite hand clenched a fist as you began walking back to the living room. Your eyes holding back tears. Levi was pouring himself the tea he had made as you entered the room. He took notice of your glossy eyes. "It's a gift for working hard. Nothing more." He continued pouring the tea. "I—I do appreciate the offer. But, I'm not a charity case." Your eyes filling with tears again. "I just—I don't understand why you're being so nice to me." You choked. Levi took the wine glass from your hand and poured you another, then walked to the black leather couch in the living room. He motioned for you to follow. "Let's have a talk, y/n." You gulped, but followed his instructions. He handed you the wine, his gentle fingers making sure you had a good grasp on the stem of the glass. You kept your eyes on your wine glass, watching it circle the glass as you swirled it back and forth, anxiously. "I used to be homeless. Before I was in the military I mean." Your eyes flashed up to his, Levi staring directly at you. Your wine glass met your lips as you chugged the rest of what Levi had poured you. "My mother died at a young age, my father was no where to be found. Only family I had left was my uncle, who was a piece of shit. I lived on the streets and got in fights until I joined the army. I say this because I know you are going through something similar to what I had gone through. You're not a charity case, nor do I view you as one. Don't give yourself a victim mindset. I can tell how hardworking and dedicated you are to fixing your life. That's why I got you the shirt. That's why I have allowed you in my home to do your laundry and shower. Not out of pity, but because I have the resources and I wished someone back then would have lended me a hand. Believe it or not, I can be a decent person. I treat those who I respect, with respect. So, you're welcome and get over it." Tears ran down your cheeks, but you didn't make a sound. Levi studied your face, but didn't move off the end of the couch. He sat and watched you, almost unsure of himself if he should attempt to say anything. Your hands trembled slightly as you cried. You sniffled, attempting to stifle your cries so you don't embarrass yourself. "Thank you, Levi." You whispered softly, but loud enough for him to hear. "Just so you know, I have extra rooms here. If you ever wanted an actual bed to sleep in, you can here." He sipped his tea. His hand grasping the cup from the top of the mug, rather than using the handle. You frowned slightly. "That offer really means a lot, but I don't think my pride will let me. I appreciate it though." Levi shrugged. "The offer stands."

Silence filled the room. Your vision swirled, realizing you were more tipsy than you had thought. Your crying episode made your head feel even more tight and pounding. You watched Levi pick up the remote and put on the food network on the television. "So I guess we aren't going back to the bar?" You asked. "I planned on it, just a little later. Figured since Yeager said he will be there tonight he can attempt to get some of my work done for me." His eyes were glued to the tv mounted on the wall. Your stomach knots, hearing Eren's name. "Eren is such an asshole. He totally ignored me at the liquor store today. Like what am I? Invisible?" You spurted out, not controlling your filter. You stretched your arms above your head as you yawned and began to sprawl your body out. Levi's eyebrows raised as he turned his head toward you. "What do you mean ignore you?" Unaware of how close you were, you ended up resting your head against Levi's leg and crawling into the fetal position on the couch. "What do you think you're doing?" He scowled. You yawned and mumbled in response to Levi, but he couldn't make out your words. He leaned his face down toward yours to study your face and try to hear your rambling words. Your slight snore echoed through the living room signaling that you were asleep. Levi sighed, realizing he wasn't going to be getting up for a while. A wool blanket hung on the back of the couch. Levi grabbed an edge of it and draped it over your lower body. Food network rang through the living room, breaking the silence as Levi's eyes slowly closed, helping him drift asleep.
