When Adam got to his room, he texted Eve, still unsure if he should close the gap he so carefully maintained these two weeks.
(Adam) Hey, wanna do dinner with me?
(Eve) Sure
(Adam) wear something fancy ok? It's a nice place, not the usual dumps I take you to. (smiley face)
What Adam refer to as dumps were expensive restaurants around town. Eve thought to herself an actual dump would be someplace her family use to eat Sunday dinner every week.
(Eve) How fancy?
(Adam) I am impressed you have specific levels of fancy NOT prom fancy, more like formal dinner fancy. Make sense?
(Eve) Yeah perfectly. (smiley face)
(Adam) Pick you up at the lobby at 7.
(Eve) Ok.
Eve didn't have any formal dresses; there was nothing she had ever done that required her to dress up. She did have a beautiful white cotton sleeveless dress cinched at the waist that fit her perfectly. Her mom gave it to her for her 18th birthday last year, so she decided to wear that and her Grandmothers pearl earrings to match. She rarely put on any makeup, but she noticed he was always in the company of women who wore a lot of makeup, and she wanted him to look at her the way he looked at them. There was that redhead he was flirting with at the bar that night and the brunette he'd asked out the next night. She drew liner under her eyes and added some lip and cheek tint too. Even though he never said it was a date, she was going to pretend it was. This is probably the closest she will come to one with him. She'd never been on a date with anyone, but she had dreamt of him plenty of times. She flushed a bright red because someone her dreams were naughty or at least as naughty as her inexperienced mind could conjure up. Laying on her chaste little bed listening to his voice singing, she'd imagined many things. It felt like her dreams were coming true one at a time.Â
It sounds crazy to be 19 and say she'd found her soulmate, but when they made music, it was like being in that space with him where heaven and earth meet. She could live in that space forever. She stopped getting dressed and sat down to write the words that her mind soul into song just now. Eve had this leather-bound book she wrote all her songs in. It was thicker than the phone book, and over the years, she had added to the binding, making it bigger and bigger. She felt these words bubble up and become ink on the paper before her. When she wrote in it, it was as if she was just a conduit to something greater. Like Adam often told her, the words are raw and rough around the edges because they came from a raw space in her mind. They were plumed from the depths of her soul a place without thought or inhibition. It was Divine providence.
I am with you always in this life and the next
You will always have my heart and my wordsÂ
long after my breathÂ
When the earth has my body and my skin turns to dust
You will always have me….
When she was done, she slipped on her silver heels and wore her hair open. She knew he liked her curls the way his eyes lingered on them. She wanted him to notice her tonight.
Adam waited for her in the lobby, and he took a sharp breath as soon as he saw her. She hadn't seen him, yet he was standing off to the side to avoid people constantly asking for his autograph. She was wearing a well-fitted white dress, simple yet pristine. Her well-endowed mounds peeked softly through the conservative neckline. He could see the curve of her soft hips and plump buttocks through the dress even though it wasn't very sheer.Â
She could make a paper bag look sexy on her, he thought. Imagine if she looked this way at 19, what would she be at 20 or 30? All he wanted to do was grab her fleshy hips and push himself inside her making her scream his name. He flushed at his own thoughts. This was going to be a long night of self-restraint and sexual frustration, he thought to himself, walking over to her.
She saw him step out from behind the shadow and walk toward her.
"Hi! I am sorry I am late."
"You are just in time, actually."Â Â
Adam was friendly enough, but he seemed distracted and on edge. He was wearing a dark blue suit looking impeccable it fitted perfectly over his broad shoulders and narrow waist curving over his sharp ridges. Eve wasn't surprised. He always looked good; whether it was in a freshly laundered tee or a wrinkled dress shirt, he articulated simple elegance without even trying. She looked at him wide-eyed, her lips slightly parted, and Adam felt warm against her gaze. He wondered if she knew how openly in awe her expression was when she looked at him. It made him want to do unspeakable things to her.
