STRANGER TEENS 2 : A Stranger Things Fan Script

EXT. HAWKINS HIGH SCHOOL – GYMNASIUM – NIGHT

We open on a SHOT of the night sky teaming with bright stars, and then suddenly a pair of HIGH HEELS belonging to a FORMALLY DRESSED LADY step into the FRAME, revealing that what we were looking at was actually the reflection of a puddle.

We PAN OUT to the entrance of the GYMNASIUM, where STUDENTS in FORMAL ATTIRE are exiting their FLASHY CARS and making their way inside the GYM.

INT. HAWKINS HIGH SCHOOL – GYMNASIUM

CLOSE UP of a hanging SILVER CARDBOARD STAR, that murkily reflects the floor of the gym filled with STUDENTS mingling and dancing. The DANCE BAND begins playing MR SANDMAN BY THE CHORDETTES and we CUT TO...

JOYCE in a SPARKLING BLUE DRESS accompanied by LONNIE in a NAVY TUXEDO.

JOYCE looks to her left and we PAN OVER in that direction, where KAREN and HOPPER walk up arm in arm, both dressed in shades of ORANGE and BROWN.

WIDE SHOT of the DANCE FLOOR, which has numerous SILVER CARDBOARD STARS suspending above. At the back of the GYM there's a STAGE with the BAND, and a LARGE SIGN behind them that reads ENCHANTMENT UNDER THE STARS.

LONNIE

Drinks?

JOYCE

Sure, we'll find a table.

HOPPER and LONNIE walk off, and we follow JOYCE and KAREN as they make their way towards the SEATING AREA. 

They pass SUE dancing with CHARLES, who wave at them. KAREN waves back and accidently hits RICHEY, who was walking up behind her with his date LIZ STEINBECK, 18, a Natalie Wood look alike. Again we don't see RICHEY'S FACE, but like LIZ they are spectacularly dressed and styled.

KAREN

I'm sorry. I didn't see you.

RICHEY

No harm done. Anyway it's not the first time we've had a close encounter.

KAREN blushes and JOYCE gives her the side eye. LIZ gently squeezes RICHEY'S ARM.

RICHEY

This lovely lady is Liz Steinbeck. She's from Loganville High.

KAREN nods understandingly, realising that RICHEY is offering up an explanation. RICHEY and LIZ walk off, and RICHEY sneakily hands KAREN a WHITE ROSE.

JOYCE

What's that about?

KAREN

It's a peace offering.

JOYCE

You sure that's all it is?

KAREN

Yeah. He may be a little, you know, but he's a gentleman.

JOYCE

(Beat) Thanks for doing this, Karen.

KAREN

Are you kidding me? I said this would happen. Besides I'm done with the whole popularity scene. I see that the universe has something else in store.
