"What in the name of Rassilon himself was that?" I sneer at the Doctor.
The Doctor looked at me like I slapped him with a fish, "Filik?"
"Doctor, that's Tranzalorian. Regardless, Reinette is your girlfriend now?" I say jokingly, laughing as I walk away to find out where in the universe Rose and Mickey went. Funny how the Doctor stammers over his words. "Relax, I'm joking. Let's find the humans."
The Doctor trips while trying to follow me, resulting in a clumsy, drunk-like walk-slash-run.
I stop in my tracks and look slightly to my right.
Neigh.
A horse. Great.
Of course the Doctor gets all starry-eyed and brings the horse with.
I am not surprised one bit.
I keep walking to where I can hear Mickey and Rose bickering about. I sneak up behind them while they were talking about how the large window right in front of them must have been another door to pre-revolutionary France.
"It's France again. We can see France." Mickey breathes out.
"I think we're looking through a mirror." Rose says back.
We can see through the window that a man walks into the room with two other people, who looked to be servants.
"Blimey, look at this guy. Who does he think he is?" Mickey questioned.
"The King of France." I say out loud, instantly recognizing the man from a previous encounter.
Let's just say he fell head over heels, and I completely rejected him. Besides, he would have dated the most impossible being in the universe. The last of my kind. Imagine how that would have changed the course of history. I'm just going to leave him with Madame de Pompadour. Seems better that way.
I shivered that thought out of my head, which was going at light speeds with all the different possibilities that this day could end up going.
"Oh here's trouble," Rose jokes, looking at me and now the Doctor, who shows up just a second later. With a horse.
"Oh, this and that." the Doctor replies, not acknowledging the horse at all, "Became the imaginary friend of a future aristocrat, picked a fight with a clockwork man."
The horse neighs, saying hello to Rose and Mickey.
"Oh, and he met a horse." I grumble.
"What's a horse doing on a spaceship?" Mickey asked.
Good question. I want to know myself.
"Mickey, what's pre-revolutionary France doing on a spaceship? Get a little perspective." the Doctor spat out, "See these? They're all over the place. On every deck. Gateways to history. But not just any old history."
He says this referring to the many doors to Reinette's life.
Speaking of which, I see Reinette walk into the room with the King of France, and we watch as she walks up to him and curtseys.
"I'm talking about her life." the Doctor says plainly, "Time windows deliberately arranged along the life of one particular woman. A spaceship from the fifty first century stalking a woman from the eighteenth. Why?"
"Who is she?" Rose questions.
"Jeanne-Antoinette Poisoon." I said to Rose, "Known to her friends and us as Reinette. Mistress to the King of France."
"Wait, I thought she was the Queen of France?" said Rose.
"Not quite," I said, "The King has a wife, Marie Leszczyńska. More formally Maria Karolina Zofia Felicja Leszczyńska. Polish princess. Queen consort until 1768. She was buried at the Basilica of St Denis, and her heart was entombed at the Church of Notre-Dame-de-Bonsecours. But he had several mistresses. That was common at the time."
