The Last Few Crumbs

Silence was all he could hear. It was all anyone could hear, at least it would be if anyone was left. Years of war had finally taken it's tole on the once great nation. What was once a bustling city was now a giant crater in the ground.

The first city to fall had been Musutafu. Following close by was Tokyo, then Kyoto, Nagoya, and even Hiroshima. The place just had bad luck apparently. The villain Atomizer suicided there as a last resort. Many heroes lost their lives in the ensuing explosion.

The sickening scent of smoke and sulfur wafted throughout the indentation. He wrinkled his nose. Well, at least he was still alive. The smell of suffering reminded him of that. He groaned, pushing of the small rock that had been propping him up. Thank god he had blunted the rock just before he hit it. It might have pierced through an organ or two.

The world spun as he struggled to his feet. Each step felt like billions of Tomura's were decaying him from the inside out, each breath felt like Geten was freezing all the moisture in his lungs over and over. He struggled up the lip of the hole he was in, his breath becoming more and more haggard with each step. With a strangled gasp, he tumbled over the edge, falling into the waiting arms of his friends, the only other people he could trust that were left in this world. Tears threatened to spill out as he looked upon his childhood best friend. A raspy cough bubbled from his throat, and a forlorn smile crossed his face. "It's over," he rasped out.

He coughed, using Daiju as a crutch. His last fight with HIM had left him heavily injured. At least HE was gone now. At least HE couldn't terrify the next generation. A gasp drew his eyes to the left, and his own eyes widened upon seeing her. Her, the one who shared his pain, and he shared hers. The light at the end of the tunnel, the one he had steadied himself to never see again. Tears leaked out of her eyes, and she ran to embrace him. She sobbed into his chest, shuddering breaths and quite whispers of "Idiot" and "Moron" were the only things breaking through the whimpering. He rubbed her back gently, giving her a warm embrace. "Don't worry," he said. "It's over now. I'm here." He looked away as she peeked up, keeping her from seeing his own watering eyes.

Katsuki Bakugo was not in the best of moods. First he had to watch someone he considers his brother nearly die fighting the so-called 'Ultimate Villain', and then he had to pull Round-Chee- no, Uraraka, away from the fight as to fulfil his promise to that same person. She had screamed and struggled as he pulled her away, but even then he knew they had nothing to add to the fight. Those two were on a different level, and as much as KAtsuki hated to admit it, he wasn't strong enough to make a difference in the fight.

"Oi, Nerd. Enough with the waterworks," he broke the silence. The greenette took his eyes off his crying girlfriend, and faced his childhood best friend. A playful smile spread across Izuku's lips, and Katsuki scoffed, almost managing to keep his scowl up. Almost. His lips twitched, the corners giving way to a slight upturn. Izuku struggled, but managed to pull Ochako away from his torso, her eyes still watering. He took a deep breath, and looked over at Katsuki, the playful smile adorning his face dropping away to reveal a much more somber display.

"So, we're the last ones, huh," Izuku spoke up, a slight shadow passing over his face. Katsuki nodded quietly, a large contrast to the once loudmouthed brat he had been. "Fuck!" Izuku slammed his fist into the crumbling wall of one of the last buildings nearby. A hole was opened thanks to the sheer force and rage behind the blow.

The sudden bang from the rapid exertion of force on the air startled the other two. Izuku slumped down towards the ground, all of his pent up emotions spilling out at once. "If I had only been a bit faster, none of this would have happened. Ochako walked up behind him. Placing her hand on his back, she murmured into his ear "Taii, it's not your fault. He was already working on a plan while we were just being born." Teary-eyed, the green-eyed hero turned to face his best friend, gently wiping his tears away with his arm. Kat looked grim.

"So Taii, what do we do now?" Izuku seemed to contemplate for a second before opening his mouth, only to be rudely interrupted by a feminine voice; "I believe I can help with that. Izuku turned around, only to notice the smoky figure of Nana Shimura standing behind him.

"So you're saying that thanks to us all having possessed at least a small portion of One For All, you can send us back in time through the quirk!?" Izuku gaped at the vestige. Nana nodded, a contemplative look spreading across her face. "In theory, it should be possible. You threes' memories, along with your current strength level, can be sent back to the earliest point you either interacted closely with, or possessed, One For All." Izuku managed to pick his jaw up off the ground, a similar look crossing his face.

"I can see how it might work, but what would happen to our old quirks? Would they merge, or would we end up having two QFGs? The difference could mean life or death for use." Ochako and Katsuki straightened up at the mention of death. It was commonly known at this point that having multiple Quirk Factor Genes without having the right body type for it could seriously harm, and possibly kill, a person.

Nana shrugged, passing her gaze over them all once before re-honing on Izuku. "It's completely unknown at this point. We've never done this before, and with the odd mechanisms of QQPSs, it's anyone guess." An oppressive, grim feeling spread over the remaining three. Finally, Izuku nodded. Turning his head to his girlfriend and brother in all but blood, he spoke. "I believe it's worth the risk," a slight smirk shadowed the corners of Izuku's mouth. "It may not be safe, but it will give us a shot at saving everyone." The other two nodded, and Izuku turned back to Nana.

"Alright, that's it then. We'll head back in time, and try to stop this whole mess from happening." A wide grin split across the nanadaime's face. She slowly faded back into the core of OFA, her hum of acknowledgement echoing across the fields. Suddenly, Izuku heard the Shodai's voice in the back of his mind. "Izuku, get the others to grab your arms, quickly. We only have one shot at this." Izuku yelled over to his comrades "Hey! Grab my arms, we need to stick close for this!" Ochako grabbed him, holding on with all fingers but one. Katsuki clamped his hand around Izuku's arm. "Alright," Izuku yelled. "Here... We... GO!"

And everything went black.
