The sky is getting gray indicating that it's afternoon, you were sitting on the bench. Watching kids running around, chasing one another, laughing out loud. You held your necklace around your neck, caressing its pendant. You stood up and decided to go home when your cellphone suddenly vibrated from the pocket of the coat you're wearing, you pulled it out to answer the call. It was just one of your closest female friend.
"Hello?" You spoke.
"Y/N-chan, where are you?" Yuzuha asked from the other line. "There's something off with Hakkai's cat these past few days, can you check him up? We're at Chifuyu's petshop," she informed. "Sorry for bothering you but we are really worried that something might happen to him anytime soon," she apologized.
You lifted up your wrist to look at the time. It's nearly sunset, Chifuyu's shop should have been close around this time, but Yuzuha wouldn't lie to you, she sounds serious. You walked there, the placard says 'closed' that is hanging on the door. Your brows furrowed. You thought maybe they went home already and didn't get to wait for you anymore. You were about to walk away when you suddenly received a text message. It's from Yuzuha again.
We're inside.
Your forehead wrinkled. "But- Oh, maybe I'll just have to enter." You walked closer and opened the door, it wasn't lock, but it's seriously dark. You took another step when the light suddenly turned on.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" Everybody yelled together along with the sound of party poppers. Blue birthday streamers, combination of white and blue balloons around the place with everyone wearing party hats that has your initial on it. Everyone smiling at you, Chifuyu holding a simple white cream coated cake. You held your parted lips, ain't sure how to react. They sing a birthday song for you that made you feel a sudden urge to cry.
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear y/n, happy birthday to you!" They sang together, tears started streaming down on your cheeks without your permission.
"Now blow your cand-" Hina was cut off after seeing your teary eyes. "Y/n, are you alright?" She worriedly held your arm.
They are all surprised, they didn't expect you would cry.
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday my dearest kitten, happy birthday to you!" He sang while holding a small cake that he bought from the money that he saved. "Hurry up and make a wish," he excitedly told you.
You smiled before closing your eyes. You can only hear the sound of the waves from the sea behind you. You are both sitting on the black clothe at the seashore area, no one was around, only the two of you. After you finish making your wish you quickly blew the candle. He just stare at you with a content smile plastered on his face before your eyes slowly fluttered open to meet his gaze.
"What did you wish for?" He asked you.
"I won't tell, I made sure it is the best wish I ever had," you grin at him. "Don't worry, I'll let you know right away if it's granted," you assured him, but it doesn't convince him.
