DJ's POV
Me, Sabrina, and Winter walked out of the hospital. It had been a week since we we're rescued, and the news was spreading like wildfires. Standing in front of the hospital, we watched as people coming in and out looked at us, their faces bright with recognition.
"Your dad is gonna pick you up, is he?" Sabrina asked. Winter shook her head. "I dont think he knows about our location." Sabrina nodded. "You may be able to stay with us until you meet up with your dad."
I still felt unsafe of Winter going with her dad. Something didnt settle right with me. How could she only have her dad and want him dead? Something definitely happened between them.
We walked down to the sidewalk from the parking lot. I looked at Winter, then felt a sudden pain in my stomach. I had possibly put the most stress onto her out of anything, and I was too blind to see it until now.
I watched as a bright yellow and black taxi pulled over to the curb where we stood. We got into the vehicle and sat down. "Where to on this fine day?" Sabrina looked at us and then back at the driver. "Where is the nearest hotel?"
The taxi driver thought for a moment, then answered. "About a 30 minute drive from here." Sabrina nodded. "That's where we'll be heading." He nodded and began to drive.
Sabrina yawned. "I've barely slept since we got back. I'm going to sleep." She closed her eyes and slouched in the seat. I looked at Winter, who was staring off into space. "Hey Winter?" She looked over. "Yea?"
"I'm sorry." She chuckled a bit. "You already apologized once. Why are you apologizing again?" I sighed. "I probably caused you the most stress out of everything that happened. I didnt mean to scare you, and I want to give you my honest apology."
She smiled. "I know your sorry. You dont have to apologize multiple times." There was something else I wanted to ask her. "Also, when you were talking to the corner, I saw a shadow figure of a girl. She helped me and Sabrina out of the cellar, and-"
"I know she did." My eyes widened. "How?" Chuckling again, she answered: "She was really close with me during the time down at Florida. It didnt occur to me that she was a close friend that passed until after we left the wreckage."
I smiled a tiny bit. Winter leaned onto my shoulder. "I'm exhausted, so I'm gonna rest too." I put my arm around her. I leaned back and just enjoyed the ride.
Sabrina's POV
I walked along a beautiful beach. The waves were a sapphire blue, and the sand was soft beneath my feet. There was a seashell, dark black in color.
I didnt notice it until I felt it. A weird knot under my foot. The seashell was... glowing. "Oh no, dont tell me its you..." Everything started to disappear, and I heard a loud set of footsteps. I turned to see an identical version of me, but completely shadowy.
"Why couldnt you have stayed in Florida!?" I shouted. I felt the finger tips of the shadow trace along my neck. "Oh my dearest Sabrina." It teased. "I'm your shadow. Im not staying anywhere that your not."
I stepped back. "No, you've caused me enough harm already. Im not letting you do anything now that were not in that wrecked place!" I heard a sinister chuckle. "Oh, how fierce you are. You do know that I am not a human, so I am basically over you."
I kept walked backwards, but it kept following me. "You know, I wish to make a deal. You choose to join some human friends of mine, your friends will be same. Don't, and you can say goodbye to your precious boyfriend and daughter-like friend."
I shook my head. "No! I'm not joining anyone just because you tell me to!" I heard a sigh. "You never learn do you... Since she also is asleep, why don't you get some support from a friend?"
I heard a portal open overhead, and a young girl fell out. "AH- Son of a bitch!" An angry yet surprised voice yelled out. I ran over to the girl. "Winter!?" She looked at me. "Sabrina? What's happening?"
"You can see what's happening, Winter dear." The girl was obviously surprised. "Who is that, and how does she know who I am?" She whispered to me. "Me? You can call me Anabris. I know you, because I am no more than a mere shadow of the replacement."
I was shocked. "Replacement? What!?" Winter was murmuring, remembering something. "Let me just say that Winter misses her dear mother and brother very much." She was taken aback by it. "Dont you EVER bring my fucking relatives into this!"
"Aw, my apologies! I didn't mean to anger the poor child! Anyways, her mother and brother drove off the side of a cliff, and now since you helped her, your her mom in her eyes! Hooray! Anyways, what I brought her for."
Winter was yanked towards Anabris. "Don't hurt her, you monster!" Anabris smirked. "I wont do anything bad to her. She'll just feel it when she wakes up." I was confused. "What do you mean...?" There was a sinister laugh followed by a pained screech. Anabris was using magic to slam Winter's head into the dark floor.
Blood dripped down the girl's face. "Stop! Let her go!" I ran towards them, but was only pushed away with the slamming of the girl. Finally, the girl was set down, covered in blood. I ran over and fell beside her. "Your truly lucky that this mess doesn't show when she wakes up, and that its only the pain."
Winter was opening her eyes. "Someone's calling me to wake up. Open your eyes, Sabrina." She then faded. I looked at Anabris one last time. "You disgust me."
I woke up in the taxi. DJ and Winter were getting out beside the hotel. I followed them out and to the hotel's lobby. "Hey DJ, could you go ahead, I want to talk to Winter." He nodded. "Sure."
After he walked inside, I grasped Winter into a tight hug. "How hurt are you?" She murmured "My head aches badly..." I was panicking a bit on the inside. "I-Is it true about your mother and brother?" She nodded.
I grasped her hand. "So you see me as your motherly figure... correct?" She nodded again. I could tell she was on the verge of tears, because she was burying her face in my shoulder.
We must have been there for a few minutes, because DJ came back out. He looked at us, confused and concerned, but I just shook my head at him, telling him not to mention it.
We walked down to the hotel room, and I sat down on the bed. It was one of the softest things I've been on since the accident at Florida. Winter sat beside me, sinking into the bed with her eyes closed.
DJ came up to me. "Hey, I dont know about her leaving us.." I chuckled a bit. "Why? You grew attached to her and see her as your daughter?" He shook his head. "No, not that."
I looked at him. "Okay, what is it then?" He sighed. "I'm suspicious about her dad." I raised an eyebrow. "Why?" He looked at me dead in the eyes. "I can tell from a look in her eyes that she isnt telling the whole truth."
