Mina
I have no idea what's going on.
She's sleeping now. Peacefully. At last. After crying herself. With her tears staining my sweatshirt, I let her collapsed on me. I let her use me as shield from something she's so afraid of. I didn't dare to ask about it, she doesn't look like she can speak to me about it in her previous state anyway.
But whatever it is, I know it was triggered by me turning the lights off.
She looks so small and so fragile. Like a little kid who needs protection from this hostile world.
This feels wrong. Something inside me wants to stop me from continuing this mess of involving myself too much on her, but what is it? Why am I stopping myself? And from what? I have so many questions that my head is starting to hurt.
I can't help but smile, thinking how she held onto me like her life depended on it a while back. She didn't push me, her body didn't stiffened. She just let her body crashed mine. She just let her body melt as I hold her still.
Don't get me wrong, I don't like the idea of her getting scared that way because to be honest, I got scared too when I saw her so frightened. And that spot on my heart, especially saved for her ached for her.
Ring Ring
I cursed beneath my breath as I heard the loud ringing of my phone. I immediately rejected the phone call. After, I carefully lifted Chaeyoung's head on the upper left side of my chest, she's been soundly sleeping. I've dialed the number back as I go out of my room.
"Mitang!" Sana's cheerful voice made me jump as she answered the call.
"Hey. I'm sorry I didn't answer your call a while back, she's already sleepin-"
I wasn't able to finish my sentence when Sana interrupted me.
"She?" she yelled so loud I need to remove my phone from my ear. "Yah! I know I told you to face your pain, but I didn't tell you to sleep around!"
Sleep around? What the hell is she saying?
It took me a second to puzzled why she said what she said. I smacked my forehead lightly as I forgot I haven't told them about Chaeyoung yet. My mind was so preoccupied that the thought of telling them completely slipped.
"Yah! I'm not sleeping with anyone-"
"Don't lie! You just told me a while ago!" Sana interrupted once again.
I sighed in defeat. I wonder if I'll be able to tell them.
"Hello, Mitang are you still there?"
"Yes, I'm still here." I laughed, "Now could you let me finish?
" Yeah. So who's this girl?"
"Well, just to make it clear I didn't sleep with her." I clarified. Wait. Well. I mean, we slept together but not tonight like Sana thought. What the hell. Why am I rambling. "It's Chaeng. She's here." I said blurted before my mind lose its way completely.
"Chaeyoung?" she asked, "You found Chaeyoung?"
"Hello Mina? Is that true?" I heard Jeongyeon asked. She probably snatched Sana's phone. Her voice hinted concern mixed with happiness "Is it true she's with you, Mina-ya?"
"Yes, Jeong.. She's here." I peeked at my room once more to check her, "She's sleeping now."
"Oh my God!" I can now hear her crying. And I can tell from the background noises that she's not the only one.
"We'll go there first thing in the morning!" Now it's Nayeon's voice I'm hearing. I won't be surprise that it's Dahyun's I'd hear next.
"Take care of her, Mina!" Just like I thought, as if I summoned her, I heard Dahyun's voice.
Chaeyoung's really loved by all. That, I can't deny. I know that my friends, our friends had been careful not fo speak of her when they're with me, which I didn't really think necessary, but I, somehow blame myself for that. They love her and I feel like a big barrier that separates them.
"I will." I answered sincerely, meaning every ounce of the words. "I'll take care of her."
"Hey, sorry they snatched my phone." Sana apologised. "Are you okay?"
I was taken aback by her sudden question. This call shouldn't be about me. It should be about Chaeyoung who we just found.
I honestly wasn't able to think about myself for the past hours. All I've cared about is Chaeng. For those hours, for some reasons, I didn't think of the struggles I've been through because of Chaeyoung.
"I haven't thought about that." I admitted, "But I think I'm okay."
"I can't accept that, Mitang" she said firmly, "we just talked about that, right? You'll face your emotions head on."
"I know." Ofcourse I know and I can still remember every words that came out of her mouth. "Look, I don't know why but after I saw Chaeng.. I didn't feel the anger and pain she caused me anymore."
That's not a lie. I thought I'd despise her when I see her again but that's not the case. There's no hate and anger.
It's longing.. But that's all.
Caring for her doesn't mean we'll get back together anyways, right?
"You don't have to worry about me, Sana-chan." I smiled. "I'm fine, I promise."
"Okay. But why is she in your room?" Sana asked, "Didn't you have a spare room?"
Oh. About that.
"Sana.. Something's wrong with her." I said quietly, thinking if I should tell her because maybe, I'm just making this a big deal.
"What do you mean?"
"She's not speaking much, and when I saw her.. It's a mess. S-she doesn't look like she had taken care of herself or is capable of doing it in that matter." I continued, with Chaeyoung's image when I first saw her in my mind. "She loss so much weight.. And have a lot of scars. Do you think that's because of the fire?"
If there's someone I shluld talk about this, it would be Sana. She's a therapist so she should know about this stuff. But it's been a while and Sana haven't said anything yet. Maybe I'm just making this a big deal.
"Forget it. Maybe she's just tired."
"We will be there first thing in the morning and I'll check her, o-okay?" Sana finally spoke. But her voice is softer this time. Not her usual squeaky and cheerful voice. "Don't leave her side for now."
I ended the call and walked back to my room. She's still sleeping. Hugging my pillow so tight. She looks peaceful yet she's not.
"Don't leave her side for now."
I am not planning to. I don't have plans on sleeping tonight to look out for her. My thoughts won't let me sleep anyways.
