I could relate to her words very much, I also prefer arguing with her than deadly silence and that any day for the rest of my life if I have to, as long as she is near me.
"I missed you." I admitted softly, so softly that it was almost inaudible, and only after the words had faded away did I dare to look her in the eye again.
"I missed you too." she whispered back, her voice almost fragile. "And if you let me, this time I'll stay forever."
Forever. That's all I want.
"What about the bank robbery? I can't call it off it's already too late and without the money we'll get from the diamonds a life of freedom is never possible." I wanted to know, panic spreading through me. What if she had hoped that I would cancel the robbery and now leaves me after all?
"I'm done with the CIA. I'm quitting," she announced, and my jaw almost dropped.
"But- but I thought you couldn't quit at the rank you work at? That's what you've always said," I stammered in amazement, a million questions buzzing through my head. "Your job was always the most important thing in the world to you, and now you just want to quit? Why?"
"It was... until you came into my life. Now you are the most important thing in the world to me and I can only protect you if I quit my job. You showed me what life without the CIA can be like and I prefer any life with you over that of a CIA agent." she explained and my heart tightened in my chest, no one had ever wanted to do something like that for me before.
"And yes it's true I can't just quit, I just know too much for that, the CIA would never let me go." she added, but judging by the look on her face she already had an idea ready.
My Ash has a plan for everything.
"Running away is pointless, but remember how I said that only death can save me?" she asked and I nodded, still clueless as to what exactly she was getting at.
"Let's both die, baby." she smirked, the twinkle in her eyes devilish. As soon as the words left her lips I understood what she was up to and I began to grin as well.
"Count me in on that." I nodded, the grin on my lips diabolical at the thought of what we were about to do. "What's that old saying? Till death do us part?"
"Correct." she grinned delightedly. "Let's fake our deaths."

Two weeks before the bank robbery took place *
Of course, we can't just fake our deaths without involving the others from our teams, because we need their help to make it all work.
Ashely and I both knew for some time that running away was not an option, we both knew deep down that it would never work and yet neither of us said it.
If no one says it then maybe it won't come true, because secretly we both wished it would work. But it just wouldn't, ever.
She would be hounded by the CIA for life, while any enemies I owed money to would track me down and do to me what the CIA would do to Ashley, hunt me down until my last breath. We could never live in peace and we would never be truly free.
