I woke up to a phone call from my mom telling me Happy Birthday, I had honestly almost forgotten about it while being on the road. The previous day we had driven all day to the next venue, I spent mostly the whole day laying in bed working or cuddling with Jake. I knew we'd be getting to the venue soon so I decided to see what the boys were up to. I got up and just as I went to open the bedroom door I heard hushed talking on the other side, so I stopped and listened."So I have everything else set up I just need to order the roses," I heard Jake say,
"She likes roses, but peonies are her favorite." I heard Sam chime in quietly, I smiled and blushed, he was right. He also was the only one who knew hoe to help me last night, I was starting to realize he knew me better than everyone, even Jake. I accidentally shifted my weight causing the door to creak, I heard all of them shush each other and it took everything in me not to laugh. I decided I'd leave them be and take a shower. It was nice to hear Jake and Sam sort of getting along for the first time in what felt like forever. As I was in the shower I heard Jake open the door,
"Hey babe, I have to run some errands, I'll see you before the show." He said peeking his head inside the door. I smiled, I knew he was up to something.
"Ok see you then."
"Ok bye, love you" He said
"You too!" I yelled as he closed the door.
I got out of the shower and made my way to the front of the bus, It looked like everyone had left. I looked through the fridge trying to find something to eat when I heard a noise behind me. I turned to see Sam coming out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around him, his hair slicked back, droplets of water still on his bare chest. He looked up when heard me close the fridge.
"Oh! Sorry I thought you had left with Jake!" he said blushing
"Please Sammy, how many times have I seen you in your boxers." I said turning back around to the counter to hide my red cheeks. I had seen him so many times before but it had been a while. Why was this making me feel like this. Pull it together Sloan. He grabbed some boxers and jeans and walked back into the bathroom, coming back out after he was partially dressed.
"So whats the plan for today?" I said as he came and stood next to me in the kitchen, trying to get any information I could out of him.
"Well, we have a show later." he said plainly. I gave him a side eye causing him to break into a smile, "What Sloan."
"Nothing, I guess it is just like every other day on tour huh." I said turning around leaning against the counter taking a sip of my drink. He sighed and shook his head, leaning over to my ear.
"Of course I know its your birthday, but we are suppose to act like we don't know, and thats all I'm saying." He whispered, "But happy birthday Sloan," He gave me a slow kiss on the cheek. I closed my eyes and sighed, It felt like electricity. I snapped out of it and opened my eyes to see him smiling coyly at me.
"Thank you Sammy," I said looking down at the floor, Why did I suddenly feel nervous. "Well I don't know what you are all up to but I guess I'll just have to wait and see." I said
"I guess you will." He said plopping onto the couch, I thought silently for a moment.
"Sam, can I ask you something?" I said sitting down beside him
"Of course, anything" He said placing his hand on my knee, causing my heart to beat faster than it already was,
"Did you ever like me when we were friends, like before Jake?" I asked looking over at him, he broke the eye contact, I don't think he was expecting that question.
