Tris POV
Monday
I run downstairs, grab my keys and burst out the door. I woke up late for school and now I'm racing to get there on time. I speed to school and run inside and into homeroom, just before the bell rings.
"You're late." Tobias mumbles.
"Uriah and Zeke should've gotten me up." I say.
"Sure, blame your brothers." Tobias says.
"Oh shut up." I say.
We have ten minutes to do whatever we want so Eric pulls up a chair next to Tobias and I.
"Practice today." He says to Tobias.
"Yes Eric, I know." Tobias says.
Eric laughs.
"Tris, what's up?" Eric asks.
"Nothing," I say.
"You coming to the game this weekend?" He asks.
"I wouldn't miss it. Even if I didn't want to go, my brothers would drag me to watch Tobias." I say.
"Ah yeah, you guys are close, right?" He asks.
"Tobias and I? Fuck no! We hate each other." I say.
"I was talking about you and your brothers." He says.
"Oh, yeah we are." I say.
"They made her cry the other day though." Tobias says.
I glare at him. "Shut up. That was your fault."
"Are we really getting into this?" He says.
"You brought it up first." I say.
"Whatever." He says.
"You should look into becoming a gentleman, like Eric here." I say.
"You're really comparing me to him?" Tobias asks.
"Yes? Problem?" I ask.
"Yes, Eric is an idiot. I don't know what you see in him." Tobias says.
"Seriously Four? She can compare us, I don't care. I know where I stand." Eric says.
"You know where you stand and I do too, so stop playing a role to get a girl." Tobias says.
"Tobias, shut up! What are you even talking about?" I ask.
"If I didn't know any better, I would think you sound jealous." Eric says.
"Jealous? Are you kidding me! I hate both of you!" Tobias says. "You know what, forget I mentioned you two, I just better not hearing you cry to your brothers, Prior."
He stands up and walks out of the classroom as the bell rings.
"I thought you guys were friends?" I ask Eric.
"Not really." He says.
"The things he said, that's not true. I think you're really pretty and sweet actually." Eric says.
I blush and look away before standing up.
"I'll see you later, Eric." I say.
He grins and watches me walk out. I walk into my first class and sit down.
"Shauna, are Four and Eric friends?" I ask.
"No, I thought you knew that." She says.
"No, I didn't." I say. "I always assumed they were friends because of football."
