MAC POV
"Then give me your gun and I'll show you the only way out," Winlock locked eyes with Alice.
I could see the hurt on her face as she realized a truth that she already knew. She was disposable to him.
In her moment of grief she had let her guard down and Winlock saw his chance to move. I watched as he pulled a switchblade from his side pocket.
"Alice pull the fucking trigger!" I screamed at her and I could see her mind clear again but it was too late.
I scrambled to stop Winlock from bringing his blade up. He swipped up at her hand, cutting her deep and making her drop her gun. Before it hit the ground and she had time to react to the pain he had already lifted her up and threw her like a rag doll over the side of the bridge.
Behind me Nate and Garvey gasp, neither of them sure how to handle the situation from that point.
But I did.
I unloaded all 6 bullets left in my rifle clip into Winlock's body, the last hit him perfectly between the eyes.
I tossed my gun onto the ground as he fell and tried to catch my breath. Slowly I made my way over to the edge of the rail where he had thrown Alice over. As I got closer I could see a pale hand gripping onto the rebar, but it was slowly loosing its grip.
"Alice!" As I said her name both Garvey and Nate ran towards me.
I was already cautiously stepping out onto the edge. Once I had her in my sight I leaned down tried to reach out for her.
"Ally I can't reach you, you have to help me," I pleaded with her.
"I can't," her soft sobbing nearly broke me.
I noticed that there was a lot of blood all over her, even dripping down her boots. Her cut wrist so badly damaged I could see the white of the bone. I knew she may never be able to use that hand again and if she gave it to me now to try to pull her in she would loose was little blood she had left in her tiny body.
Nate grabbed my arm, "You try to lean in and I'll hold you steady."
Garvey grabbed my same arm and they began to help me lean out as far as I could. My hand desperately reached for hers as I watched her fingers slip as she began to loose consciousness.
"Please, no," I begged, I'm not sure to what or who, but anyone that would help.
I was close enough to feel her cold hand, "I need a little more."
Nate and Garvey did their best and I gained the few extra inches I needed to grab her wrist just as her grip faltered. I let out a gasp as all of her weight fell onto my arm.
"I got her her," I grunted as Nate and Garvey pulled us back to the safety of the interchange.
As her limp body fell onto mine she felt as light as a feather. She was covered in blood and a look at her wrist immediately told me Winlock had hit her major artery.
I laid her gently on the concrete and desperately looked to Nate for help. He pulled out a smoke grenade and threw it a few feet from us and it didn't take long before I could hear the blades of the vertibird slicing the air.
Garvey stayed seated and looked like he was turning green. I turned away from him and brought my focus back to Alice.
"Ally, sweetheart," I laid my head in the nape of her neck as I cradled her near lifeless body, "Please just hold on."
