Chapter 47: The Accusation

It was a different feeling than her past jobs blaming her for the mens actions. To Kaila, those past coworkers were nothing more than mere strangers she saw on a regular basis.

But that wasn't the case here.

She actually cared about Faye and she cared about Zander. The last thing she wanted was for either of them to be hurt by this.

"That's it." Lauren gave up on her soft demeanor with the two upset little ones. "I understand that you're both hurting because of the move, but that does not mean we can go around being mean to our friends." She scolded in her scary deep voice.

Grabbing Zander's hand as she held Faye, Lauren walked them out of Nina's office. "I can hear two corners calling out both of your names." She said as Zander and Faye cried harder as the woman took them to their time out.

Meanwhile, with the others gone, Kaila was still crying as she tried to force herself closer to Nina. Even if it wasn't physically possible anymore.

Gently shushing the girl as she rocked her in her arms, Nina pressed a kiss onto the tip of Kaila's nose. "Oh sweetheart don't listen to them. It's not your fault. Mama knows it wasn't. They're just sad that they have to say bye to this place." Nina comforted.

But when Kaila's cries didn't ease up, Nina sat Kaila up in her lap so that their chests were against one another. Kaila instantly buried her face into the woman's shoulder as she wept.

Continuing to shush, reassure, and rub the girls back Nina did everything she could to bring some peace to the girls broken heart.

About ten minutes after the others disappearance, Lauren knocked on the office door before reentering alone. "I gave the others a stern talking, they're out standing in the corners right now. They'll be in here to apologize after." The woman said brushing her hair back frustratedly. She was still baffled by the behavior of the other two. "How's she holding up?"

"She'll be alright." Nina said. "She's a strong one."

Nina wasn't wrong. After enduring the harassment and torment of the brothers for so long it would be almost impossible not to be strong. Not just anyone would be able to withstand their behavior for as long as Kaila has.

"I still can't believe what Faye said, it's not like her." Lauren said.

"Me neither. She's usually so sweet. And Zander too. I don't know what's gotten into them." Nina shook her head in disappointment as she looked down at Kaila seeing she had started using the hem of her shirt as a new pacifier. "Let's not do that baby." She carefully pulled her shirt out of Kaila's mouth as her tears started welling back up.

"Hey now that's enough tears." Nina continued bouncing Kaila as the girl thrashed her head around upset the woman wouldn't let her continue.

"Do you want me get her a bottle?" Lauren offered.

"Yeah that'd be great. I've already made one for her earlier. It's in the fridge, if you could heat it up for me that would be great." Nina smiled at Lauren as the woman left for the item.

Within the short amount of time Nina looked away from Kaila and over to Lauren, Kaila had managed to sneak the woman's shirt back into her mouth. Sucking on it as she kept a fistful of the woman's shirt at all times, Kaila still wasn't satisfied but she was content.

"Here you go." Lauren swiftly returned with the requested item. "I also brought this just in case." She said passing over the same pastel green blanket Kaila had used in the crib earlier.

"Thanks Laur." Nina thanked as she laid Kaila over her lap and placed the warm blanket on top of her.

"I'll give you guys some space. Give us another ten minutes and I'll be back with Faye and Zander so they can apologize to Kay." Lauren said as she exited the office with the door shut behind her.

"Look what aunty brought you honey." Nina hummed bringing the bottle close to Kaila's mouth. But like she had done prior, Kaila turned her head away as she whined the closer it got to her lips. "Sweetheart you have to drink something."

Turning her head so Nina couldn't easily access her mouth, the woman sighed placing the bottle down on her desk. Cradling Kaila more as she didn't want to have to force it down her throat, Nina couldn't help but notice how clingy Kaila was being.

Clutching the woman's shirt as she suckled on Nina's blouse, it wasn't the most appetizing thing around. And no matter how many times Nina took her shirt out of Kaila's mouth, it somehow managed to find its way back in it once again.

Out of nowhere there was a thought that came to Nina's mind. Although it wasn't one to be taken lightly. But seeing how distressed her little girl had been these past few days, and especially within the past half hour, it seemed appropriate to at least give her thought a go.

"Hey baby," Nina softly spoke as she eased Kaila away from her blouse briefly. Kaila quickly began to cry as she felt herself being pulled away from Nina, but what she felt next seemed to magically make all of her tears disappear.

After some shuffling Kaila felt the soft skin of the mocha woman against her face. Her stomach was warm as the woman brought the girl in close for a cuddle. Brushing her face against the woman's bare skin, Kaila leaned in even closer enjoying the woman's touch more than usual.

While the boutique wasn't the ideal place for this, if it brought Kaila some peace then it was alright by Nina.

"Such a good girl." Nina praised happy that Kaila was no longer crying as she lifted the girl back up so her head rested against her shoulder again. Draping the blanket over her shoulders and around Kaila, at least she would be decent when Lauren brought Faye and Zander in later. "You comfy baby?" Nina asked only getting a content sigh in response.

Smirking as she lovingly held Kaila against herself, Nina reached for the bottle hoping she'd be able to get Kaila to eat now. "Here comes the train." Nina said playfully followed by her impression of a train horn while she waved the bottle close to Kaila's mouth.

But Kaila turned away from it again, however, this time she used the blanket to her advantage as she hid under the fabric.

Feeling the girl  lowering her head as her small body tensed up drastically, Nina peaked under the blanket where she saw Kaila curled up in her lap resting her head against one of the woman's breast.

Blushing as she didn't know what Kaila was wanting, the woman tried sitting Kaila back up in her lap but the girl only fought back with whines as she enjoyed being right where she was.

"Come on baby, let's have your bottle." Nina tried to encourage Kaila out of the blanket, but the little girl was reluctant to move. She didn't want to move. She was beyond comfortable and with everything else going on she found this position the most comforting.

Eventually Nina gave up completely on the bottle, it was apparent Kaila wasn't going to drink it anytime soon. Sighing in defeat as she placed it back on her desk, Nina wrapped both of her arms securely around Kaila debating what to do next.

Although she didn't have to put much thought into it as it wasn't long before she felt Kaila's little lips wrap themselves against the fabric of her bra. Feeling her suckling on it like she had done to her shirt, Nina was blushing profusely now as she couldn't help but wonder if Kaila was hinting towards something else.

Not wanting to push any boundaries before she could be completely sure, Nina stayed frozen as she waited to see if Kaila would eventually stop on her own. She wasn't even sure if Kaila knew  what she was doing. Not like she could ask anyways.

A part of her worried about Lauren, Faye, and Zander coming in and seeing them in such a vulnerable position. But the other part of her was just happy she was finally able to provide some security for Kaila.
