It's Not All Over ? [Completed]

Shreya was fuming. Sitting on the bed in her hotel room, she tried to stay calm, but it was more difficult than usual. Vikram had been arrested and the most surprising thing at the time was that he hadn't raised the slightest protest. She understood why now. During the arraignment session, his lawyer argued that there was nothing against his client. Shreya had smiled, knowing fully well that they had evidence against him.

Unfortunately, the DNA results had magically disappeared from the file and no one had a copy. Even the one Shreya had made and kept in a folder on her computer was gone. She didn't understand how this was possible. Even Akash hadn't been able to give her answers. The young officer had worked all night to figure it out, rummaging everywhere. But nothing. Whoever did that had to really know how to hack into the CID’s computer system.

She had worked all day with Nikhil’s help to find something that would allow them to stop Vikram. But they had found nothing. Finally, Nikhil sent Shreya home. She had of course protested, preferring to keep looking. But he had insisted, making it clear that she needed a rest if she was to do a good job. So she had accepted and now found herself alone in this impersonal hotel room.

Her phone rang. She grabbed it and a smile lit her face as she saw Daya’s name appear on the screen. She pushed all the bad thoughts about Vikram out of her mind to focus on Daya. He needed her right now and she was going to help him the best she could.

- "Daya, how are you?" She asked picking up.

- "A little tired, but overall I'm fine," he replied. "I wanted to inform you that I will not be home right away."

-" Is there a problem?" Shreya worried immediately. She thought about his injury and feared for a moment that he would have to stay in the hospital.

- "Not really a problem," he reassured. "I would just like to stay a little longer to… There is one of the babies that is still missing. We haven't found it yet and I would like to help. I saw the family, at least the mother and the grandmother because the father left at the start of the girl's pregnancy. " Shreya could hear the pain in Daya’s voice. "She's so young and her son is most important to her. I want to help her find him, I know I can."

Shreya was divided. She wanted to tell him that it was not a good idea, that he had already invested way too much in this business. He risked doing himself more harm than anything else. On the other hand, he really wanted to help. He wanted to be able to bring joy back to this young girl's life by giving back her son. She couldn't deny him that.

- "You will have it for a long time?" She wanted to know in a soft voice.

- "I don't know but I think I already know where to start my research. I have an idea that I already told Natasha about. She agrees."

- "In that case, I wish you good luck."
Silence fell, but was quickly filled by Daya

- "You seem tense Shreya," he said. " Something is wrong?"

- "No, everything is fine," she lied.

- "I know you're lying Shreya," Daya said blamelessly. "You know you can tell me anything. If something is bothering you, if you're having trouble, I need to know it. Have you talked to Siddhart? Did it go wrong?"

Siddhart. She hadn't seen him all day after telling him to talk to her. He was gone and was not ironed. He knew what she wanted, she had no doubts about it. She couldn't really blame him, after all, she had been with him for several weeks. He had become attached to her quickly, much faster than she had. She knew he was going to suffer and she blamed herself.

- "No, I haven't spoken to Siddhart yet," she confessed and expected Daya to blame her, but it didn't.

- "If that's not, then what is it?" He insisted. "I know something is wrong, I can hear it in your voice. Talk to me Shreya. I hate to know that you are not well and that I am too far away to help you."
