Your POV
"Bring her to me!"
Today could have gone better, much better. I knew I probably shouldn't have tried to steal from Kid Tannen, but you know, I don't learn too often. My understanding was the two that were dragging me to the basement of the soup kitchen, were Cue Ball and Matches. It didn't take long before they put me on the small stage in a chair.
"Wait here until the boss comes, he'll figure out how you can pay him back for attempting to steal his..." Matches paused as he glanced at Cue Ball and Zane. "Inventory."
"Oh... you mean the alcohol!" Cue Ball spoke up and Matches rolled his eyes.
"We know that you idiot! Get back upstairs!"
Cue ball wasn't the shiniest ball in the set. Looking at Matches as he looked down at me, adjusting the cuffs on his jacket. He opened his mouth to speak before the sound of a bell rang out, our attention was moved to the cargo elevator. A man in a purple striped suit with a matching fedora came down the elevator. He turned to Zane and started yelling about something I couldn't make out.
Turning to look at me for a moment, he stopped in his tracks, a smirk played at his lips after a few seconds.
"I take it this is the notorious thief that's been taking some of the... Inventory?"
Matches nodded. "She is, we were able to catch her from a tip that was sent in from an Edna Strickland. That reporter that always puts her nose in people's business."
"How much did she get away with before tonight?"
"A couple of crates, top liquor."
Tannen sighed deeply for a moment. "What do you want to do with her, Boss?"
"Have her join the gang, if she can steal from me, she can steal from the other speakeasy's in the area."
"What? You want me to work for you!"
"That's what I said, Doll."
Rolling my eyes and shaking my head I gritted my teeth. "What's in it for me?"
"What's in it for you? How about you don't get your pretty little face thrown in jail... or worse."
He walked away laughing after a bit, waving his hand. Matches started what I could have thought to be the initiation of sorts for the gang. A little briefing or whatever. I didn't have a choice, looks like I was the newest member of Kid Tannen's gang.
After an hour or two I was allowed out of the chair. Standing next to Matches he put a lower hand on my back, leading me to the cargo elevator so we could find Kid. Going up the elevator we went out of the building and into another one across from the square.
Looking around for a moment before I heard a clicking noise. Turning to see where it was coming from, I was met with kid smirking at me again.
"Matches, leave us. Doll face and I have some... Deliberating to do."
Matches glanced between the two of us before he walked out and stood outside.
"Now what do you want?"
"You're a tough girl toots, I like that. You'll need to be I'd you'll work for me. I'll have you be the distraction of sorts for my business dealings."
I rose a brow at him. "How exactly do you want me to do that?"
"Use those... Assets your mother gave you."
"What name am I supposed to go by exactly. I can't walk into places saying I work for you?"
"That's simple, you're Doll Face."
Doll Face I was.
- A few months later-
"Tell me!"
"I told you toots, it's not gonna happen."
Here we go again. Lately Kid has been giving me any gift under the sun. If I look at a dress for more than three seconds, it ends up in my dressing room the next day.
I've gotten more gifts from him than he's given to Trixie in months. Something's up, he just won't admit it.
"What's the matter Kiddo?"
I watched him try and utterly fail to hide the smile at the nickname I gave him.
"Are you chicken? Can't tell me why you've been getting all these gifts?"
He spun around to look at me. "they're just because you've been, doing a good job."
"I don't believe you, Tannen. I haven't seen you give Trixie anything in quite some time now. What's the deal? You sweet on me or something?"
Sighing heavily he shook his head. Looking at me as I kept talking, all but digging myself a deeper grave.
"Is that it? I've seen the way you've been looking at me, then there's all the gifts. You've been a lot nicer to me lately than you have ever before."
Kid's POV
Listening to her talk as her (e/c) eyes glistened at me. What was I to do? Of course I was sweet on her. Its why I had her join my gang in the first place!
I've never been the best with expressing how I feel to people. When it came to her, it wasn't any better. The way she makes me feel, it's like nothing I've ever felt before.
I used to get giddy if we scored a batch of whiskey from another shipment, but when she looks at me. It's like time stops.
"Kid! Kiddo!"
And that damn nickname! It makes me skin hot and a shiver dance down my spine. Blinking at her she rose a brow at me, her hands on her hips.
"What? You playing dumb to keep me from yelling at you more?"
I chuckled. "Never, Doll Face."
"Then what is it? The only one that zones out around here like that is Cue Ball."
I smirked. She knew how to get under my skin. Grabbing her hand I pulled her into the small office I had when I didn't want to be seen on the floor of the speakeasy.
Closing the door as I spun her around, she looked at me. "what are you doing now?"
My shoes clicked on the hard wood floor as I walked towards her. That was a good question, what was I doing? All I knew was that I couldn't hide my feelings anymore, if what I was doing could even be called hiding. I'm pretty sure all of Hill Valley knew I had eyes for her.
"Kid wh-"
She started to speak, but me putting my hands on either side of her as she leaned against the front of my desk, trapping her there as I leaned down, planting my lips to hers stopped her.
Pulling away after a few seconds after I didn't feel her return the kiss I knew I was in the wrong. She didn't feel the same.
Looking at her shocked (e/c) brown eyes as they danced back and forth between mine. My mouth closed as I went to pull away, only to br stopped in my tracks as she grabbed my neck tie.
I stopped as the fabric held me in place, it bunched up the front of my suit jacket as she held it. Looking at her, thinking I was probably in for it now. Her brows furrowed at me, it was going to be the end of the Tannen family name.
That was before she pulled me into her again. My knee hit the solid oak desk under her and I knocked a few things over, some pens hitting the floor when I caught myself from crushing her.
Realizing what happened after a few seconds, I kissed her back, wrapping an arm around her and pulling her into me, deepening the kiss.
Pulling away after a few minutes, her cheeks red, mine most likely matching in intensity.
"If you wanted a kiss, you could have just said so kiddo. Next time don't run from me like a chicken."
