"your highness! your highness! please, the king requests your presence in his quarters." loud pounding was heard on the door, stirring wooyoung and causing him to wake up. he tried to sit up and go to the door to tell whoever's out there that san would be up in a minute, but a pair of arms stopped him doing so.
san pulled him back down onto the bed, wooyoung's backside pressed against san's front (they r CLOTHED ok u dirty minded ppl stop thinking) as the older pressed a soft kiss on the back of wooyoung's neck, "stay for a little longer, cinnamon."
wooyoung chuckled, "you're the one that needs to wake up, you idiot." wooyoung placed his hand on san's hand, making the prince hum in comfort. however, wooyoung then moved san's arms so that they were no longer wrapping him, making san whine.
"c'mon, someone's at the door for you." wooyoung said, kneeling in front of san and smiling at him, "wake up, yeah?"
san groaned, shaking his head and threw his arm on top of his face, a clear sign that he didn't want to get up at all. wooyoung chuckled at san's cuteness. if san was this cute every morning, then he wouldn't mind sleeping over a few more times before he had to leave.
wooyoung walked over to the door, opening the door and smiled at the surprised maid, "hey there. um, the prince will be up in a few. may i ask why his majesty ask for the prince's presence?"
the maid bowed and nodded, "his majesty said something about the western border of the kingdom being attacked. i overheard a bit and his majesty suspects that a war might be starting."
the colours in wooyoung's face drained away as his heart dropped to the deepest valley ever. "r-right. i'll wake the prince up and ask for him to go to his majesty's quarters as soon as he wakes up. you may go. i'll get him there myself."
the maid nodded, bowed once again and started leaving san's quarters. wooyoung closed the door, the thought of san going to war frightening him. there was no way that he's going to let san go into that mess alone. hell, san was just a boy, there's no way wooyoung is allowing him to go there alone. he'll be with him in every step. wooyoung knew he would. plus, since he was a sorcerer, he'd probably be able to convince the king to let him go on the battlefield as well.
"what are you thinking about, cinnamon?" san muttered against wooyoung's neck, now attaching himself to the back side of the younger. wooyoung turned around, holding san's face in his hands and smiled softly at him, "your father wants you at his quarters."
"i know, i've heard." san said, again in his small, soft voice. san looked so pure and so child-like right now wooyoung hated to break that. wooyoung didn't like how san was the prince and that it was expected of him to join the military and even take a high rank like a commander. wooyoung didn't like how they're fated.
wooyoung didn't like a lot of things that was made for him in this life time, but wooyoung liked one thing: san. well, of course, there's his family and yeosang, yunho and mingi. but at this moment, wooyoung liked san a lot. he liked how san was clinging onto him like there was no tomorrow. he liked how san was willing to do so much for them, which was what wooyoung should've done instead of going to the moon goddess like a coward. he liked how san was just san. that san shows wooyoung san instead of prince choi san. and that, was wooyoung's favourite part of san.
"your father thinks there's a war on the verge of starting." wooyoung replied lowly, his voice quivering when he thought of the view of san on the battle field, swords clashing with unknown men, unknown boys, as they all just fought to see tomorrow. "he probably wants you to go fight."
san tensed and wooyoung could feel how scared the older was. wooyoung wanted to wrap san in his arms and never let him go, but he knew he couldn't do that. as much as wooyoung would like to rebel against the king and keep san in the safety of the kingdom, he knew he couldn't. mostly because wooyoung would definitely get decapitated if he did that, but also because of san's fate. san was a prince. he had to fight.
san let go of wooyoung and started walking to his writing desk, wooyoung frowning with tears forming in his eyes, "s-sannie? what are you—you're not going to write a poem out of this, are you?" wooyoung joked, tears escaping from his eyes from his slight chuckle.
san turned around and in his hands was a box. it was blue velvet and looked quite expensive, to be honest. wooyoung's mouth stayed open, too shocked when he saw that san was giving the box to him. san smiled, "if i," san sighed, "if i die there, i want you to at least have something to remember me by. this was originally your birthday gift and i thought it'd be a pretty thing as my first step to courting you. but i just gave this a whole new meaning and i just—i like you a lot, jung wooyoung, i hope you notice. i know it's only been a month since we've met each other but i am sure that i like you because you're you, and not because you're my fated other half. just—just open it, will you?"
wooyoung did exactly that, and his eyes went twice as wide when he saw the content inside. it was a pendant necklace, the pendant was of the shape of an infinity sign, one hole filled with a ruby stone and the other with a blue topaz stone. san took the necklace out of its box and put it around wooyoung's neck, "ruby's my birthstone, topaz's yours. i know you already asked for our fates to be changed, but know that my heart will always be yours. it might be too soon to say this, but i need you to know that. that i'll always be yours, jung wooyoung."
wooyoung chuckled, throwing his arms around san and the older stumbled a bit from the weight, "you idiot. you're talking like you're going to die tomorrow. you are not going to die tomorrow, so stop talking like that. i swear i will protect you to my best abilities. now get dressed and go to your father. he must have waited for you for so long."
san smiled. he kissed wooyoung's cheeks then captured the moon dust's lips in his, "stop crying. then i'll go."
wooyoung sniffed and wiped all of the tears away, willing them down and smiled widely at san, "there. now go!"
