Hours later, I knocked on the three doors and waited for our guests to come out of their rooms. Weg had asked me to accompany them to the dinner where she would greet them officially in her Queendom. Word had gotten around that Jaskier and Geralt were back, this time with a mysterious girl. A very special girl that held the title of Cintra and had powers that nobody else on the continent was capable of managing. Everybody was already at their seats in the dining hall, waiting for the new arrival. A guard at the door announced our three guests when they walked in behind me.
A realization hit me as I noticed that all eyes were especially on one of our guests. Geralt would have a lot of female attention. And I had no idea if he would give into it. Jaskier would use his charms on one or the other Skjaldmær for sure. Or maybe not, the songs he has written about Gertha talked about the greatest heartbreak he has ever had, saying he might never get over her.
"Don't worry," Rusla quietly said to my right when I sat down at the bench. Our guests sat at the Queen's sides, where usually her, me and Hertha sat. "I told them he is off limits because he is yours."
"Rusla! That's not true!" I whispered back angrily.
"Yeah," she grinned at me. "Sure."
"I told you nothing happened at Kaer Morhen."
"But you wanted to."
"I don't know ..." I replied honestly, looking away. "It's too complicated."
"Maybe you are the one making it complicated. Your ways have parted two times now and you were given a third chance now. I would say that's Destiny."
Weg raised her voice for a short speech, we toasted to the three guests and then, everybody started to eat. Dinner was delicious as usual, but the party quickly dissolved itself. A few members of the Court of Owls and servants excused themselves to do some work that was left.
Jaskier asked our Queen something and they both got up from the table, walking over to the window. He would want her to look over one of his lyrics for sure, Weg was a huge poetry fan. I grabbed my half full wine glass and sat down at Jaskier's seat next to Ciri who was chatting with one of the younger Skjaldmærs.
"It seems like Weghbiorg is comfortable in her position as the Queen." Geralt across from me noticed. "Is she a good one?"
I nodded and drank from my cup. "She is. Kind, fair, open and intelligent."
"But I guess it's hard to live up to your latest Queen."
"Nobody ever will," I replied with a smile on my lips, thinking about my sister that I haven't seen for such a long time. I missed her a lot. "But Weg will go down in the history books as well, she has a vision for Taalen."
"How is Lathgertha by the way?"
"Good ... I hope. We hear little of her, she spends most of the time in the palace."
