The view never failed to impress me. I swung my sneakers back and forth over the roof of the apartment block, watching the orange sun directly as it set behind the skyline. An early sunset, really, at only half three in the afternoon, but that was to be expected, I guessed, in February. It was beautiful and I could get great marks in Photography if my crappy camera on my phone actually picked up the colours. But nah. It was just a blur. As everything else was on that phone.

But I wasn't too bothered, because I'd already learned it was just best to live in the moment rather than try and capture it electronically. If I really focused on the sun, I could see each individual ray in all different shades of red, orange and yellow. This yellow I didn't mind so much, compared to the horrible colour of my room. But I could see every grey cloud illuminated by these pretty colours, creating a kaleidoscope of pinks, oranges, purples, blues and yellows all over the sky. It was beautiful.

The wind was light, but not too chilly. My black hoodie was in the laundry, so I had on my white t shirt with black (but now they were more dark grey) jeans with my thin flannel green checked shirt, and I hadn't brushed my hair for a couple of days, so it was wild as hell. But there hadn't been any point brushing it because I'd been spending most of my time up here, watching the world go by, and it had been very windy and short hair didn't stay neat for long.

I sighed. Monday. Thursday hadn't been any better, like I hoped, but now I'd grown accustomed to the feeling of constant, unrelenting boredom. As I'd promised, I'd done no more home learning, and Dad was still clueless about my suspension. It was now the 29th of February, but it felt like years, with nothing to do, and I was only five and a half days into my suspension, three and a half if you didn't count the weekend. Which I did, because then it sounded longer. And nothing had happened. Even at the weekend. At all.

I was truly bored as fuck.

Ah, the sun was disappearing now. Wait for it... Yes, there we go. All the streetlamps came on simultaneously, all flickering into life at the same time. I couldn't help grinning. I didn't know why. It always made me smile. I looked over my shoulder just in time to see Avengers Tower light up, from top to bottom, the logo last. Today Tony Stark had made it flash green and purple.

I hadn't seen that one in a long time, but it was my favourite setting. Green and purple were my two favourite colours, and the last time I'd seen this setting, I'd actually seen both Tony Stark and Steve Rogers out and about in the streets, separately, but on the same day, both with very obvious disguises on. I didn't understand why no one else recognised them, because they were only wearing hats and sunglasses. They just looked like themselves at a baseball game, but both of them had seen me looking and put a finger to their lips to tell me not to say anything.

Hey another day I'd even seen the Iron Legion return to the Tower when that display was on, with Iron Man leading them. That was just before the Sokovia thing, I think.

Strange that. Very strange. Obviously it was a coincidence, but it still gave me a weird feeling in my stomach to think about.

Who knew, maybe I'd see an Avenger today too.

Wait, what was I thinking? I shook my head and looked down at the wide expanse of asphalt and concrete below. As if watching the Avengers logo on the tower flash my two favourite colours affected the likeliness of me seeing Avengers in any way. I was lucky those other times. After all, they lived in the city, and I must've bumped into everyone in the city several times at some point. I was one in one and a half million people at least living in Manhattan. Most of those must've seen at least one of the Avengers before. I wasn't special.

I blinked. I'd been staring at the same person on the ground in front of the apartment block for at least three minutes, and only now I realised they were waving frantically at me, attempting to get my attention. For a second I tensed up, wondering if I'd been stalked or something, but then I relaxed as I realised who it was.
