I'm sorry, the words kept echoing in Shirou's head. His eyes weren't lying to him, the man's dog tags read "Leonard 'Gestalt' Thorne", his own brother was still alive, and he'd killed him. He even called him by his birth name, one that few people knew at the time, and his scent, what other proof did he need to prove that the man lying in front of him was his brother? As he felt his hand go limp, Shirou, overcome with grief, tore the dagger from his brother's chest and attempted to revive him. When he removed his helmet though, it dawned on him that there was no saving him, the amount of blood staining Thorne's snout and pouring out of his mask was proof enough. The tears were flowing freely now, he had lost his last remaining family member, and he ended their life himself.

Watching the normally stoic, and generally emotionless Shirou become a sobbing wreck, shocked Michiru. Before, her partner rarely showed any emotion outside of work, but now here he was, mourning his brother, who he just killed with his own blade. As she made her way over, she noticed that Thorne's chest was still rising and falling, he was still alive, but barely. At that point, she remembered something that Ben had told her about a special serum that was used to heal usually fatal injuries on the battlefield. Acting quickly, she ran over and started going through Thorne's pockets. Noticing this, Shirou asks what she's doing, there's no point in trying to do anything to try and save his brother nor should she be looting his corpse. Michiru responds that they can still save him, and that she is looking for a medical injector containing a serum that the mercenaries they met three weeks back told her about. Shirou is unconvinced, turning to his brother's body before turning his back towards her and saying that no medicine in existence can bring people back from the dead.

After fumbling through several pockets finding ammunition, supplies, tools and other items, Michiru finally finds what she was looking for: an auto injector with a green cap labeled Serum A27. Unscrewing the cap and exposing the needle, she plunges it into Thorne's thigh, only for nothing to happen. Her mood dampening, she agrees with Shirou that no medicine can save him. She moves closer to him, wrapping her arms around his, trying to comfort him when they hear someone coughing.

Pain. That's the first thing Thorne feels as he comes to. His body was working in overdrive to replace the blood he lost but it wasn't enough if the amount of it on his armor was any indication. He notices that the A27 injector is jammed in his thigh and that both Shirou and Michiru are staring at him. Weakly, he calls out to Shirou, who wraps him in an embrace that nearly reopens his healing wound, though his yelp of pain makes his brother loosen it a bit as he rubs against him like a young pup, whispering apologies all the while. When he's done, Thorne meekly asks him if he could remove the needle that was still in his thigh, which Michiru does, eliciting a grunt of pain from the soldier who then rubs the injection site to try to lessen the pain. During this, Shirou quietly asks if they could return to the Co-op. Curious about this change in behavior, he agrees, but not before he gathers his equipment, including the rifle that Shirou had thrown to the other end of the roof when he tackled him, making the wolf in question bury his face in his brother's chest with embarrassment.
