'Sorry for... What happened in my room just now... I should've given you some privacy right away.' Chan says not being able to look you in the eyes.
Ji-Ho and Han are doing the dishes while Changbin and Hyunjin are sitting on the opposite side of you and Chan. They are discussing who's turn it'll be to cook tomorrow very passionately.
'It's alright honestly. I'd never assume you'd do something like that to be disrespectful. I should've also waited until you got out of the room. So don't worry.' You try to console Chan.
He smiles at your response, which means he doesn't feel uneasy anymore.
'I have some good news by the way-' He starts '-I was able to reschedule everything in a way I'm all available on Sunday. You want to go hiking? I've researched a bit and Suraksan is a very accessible and pretty path. It would take us about 4 hours and there's even a temple on the way up there we can visit-' Chan very enthusiastically rants on about the trail.
'He looks so cute when he's enthusiastic about something.' You think as you keep nodding, pretending to be listening to everything he's saying.
'That sounds great! I've also heard some people talking about the Suraksan trail. You have some good hiking shoes right?' You ask.
Chan nods.
'Alright great. Then Sunday it is!'Sunday comes quicker than you expected.
You wake up at about 9AM and put on your hiking outfit for today. Tight fitted, but warm, leggings, a tight fitted shirt which you throw a sweater on top, a cap, your hiking boots and a tiny backpack. In the backpack you put the freshly washed clothes Chan gave you, a bottle of water and lunch for the both of you which consists out of samgyeopsal and some veggies.
'Well well. Look at you.' Ji-Ho comments when you walk into the living area. She's sitting down on the couch. 'You're going hiking with Chan right?'
'Uhum.' You hum affirmatively as you sit down besides her.
'Listen Y/N-' Ji-Ho suddenly starts sounding quite serious '-I am getting the feeling that Chan really likes you. Like, like-likes you.'
You stay quiet for a little while, thinking about what she said.
'Which isn't a bad thing. It's just that I remember you saying that it would never become something since you both work together. What if he doesn't feel the same way?' Ji-Ho says.
You are too scared to look at her. You softly whisper 'I don't know.'
'Y/N...' Ji-Ho says.
'Chan is also someone who's very professional. So... Maybe he feels the same way about it? I don't want to talk about it any further Ji-Ho.' You say standing up and making your way over to the door.
'Y/N don't leave! You are an hour too early by the way!' Ji-Ho tries to scream to you at the last minute. And yes, Ji-Ho was extremely right. There you are, standing at the entrance of the metro station an hour too early, waiting for Chan. Unfortunately, this gives you time to think about what Ji-Ho said.
'I really like spending time with him, I don't want to lose that. I also don't want to lose my job. This is so f*cking frustrating.' You think to yourself removing your cap and rubbing your head in frustration. 'But no! Maybe he doesn't like me like that. Maybe he's just really friendly. Maybe he even sees me as a sibling... A sibling that kissed him though.... F*ck!'
You sit there, overthinking about this and that and see someone familiar approaching you from a distance. Chan's wearing some sweatpants, a sweater, a cap and his hiking shoes.
'Hmm, he looks good.' You say and immediately scold yourself for thinking that way.
'Good morning Y/N! Did you have to wait long?' Chan says while hugging you.
'No no, not at all.' You blatantly lie.
'You okay?' He asks concerned. 'You usually answer in some sort of snarky comment.'
'Uh yeah.' It feels like his eyes are piercing through your brain. 'I'm just not a morning person that's all.'You both take the metro to Danggogae Station. Chan has to pay attention he doesn't get recognized. He only faces you and the window the whole time.
'Well I don't mind looking this way.' You blush, thinking he's talking about you, but he says. 'Look at the great view we have.'
And he's totally right. You get to enjoy the nature on the way to the Suraksan trail.
'Chan?' You ask.
He hums at you.
'Don't you really dislike the fact that you have to hide yourself in the open? Especially when you're with other people. You constantly have to make sure no paparazzi are around that could start spreading rumors.' You look at him and you can see he's thinking it through.
'I do dislike the fact that my privacy in the public is so... limited. But, it's not so bad as you think. If I'd have to compare Stray Kids to a group like BTS, we are way more free to do anything we want and hangout with the people we want.' He answers.
'Alright, let's say hypothetically and then I mean really hypothetically. A member of Stray Kids were to date someone. How would you guys manage in a situation like that?'
'Oh yeah really hypothetical...' You look at him with a straight face and he continues in all seriousness. 'Well, we're not allowed to. But if I were calling the shots, I'd do what I want and I'd have no problem showing them off to paparazzi. I would not care too much about the consequences.'
'Wow...' You say surprised 'You seem to me, a person who would really care about consequences though.'
You hear Chan whisper 'I guess you just have that effect on me?'
'What?' You ask.
'I said; I guess I just don't anymore.' Chan looks away ending the conversation. 'Ah this is our stop, Donggogae Station.'You two get out of the metro and make your way out of the station. From the station, you have to walk to the start of the trail through some residential areas.
'A friend of mine told me that the short cuts through the residential areas can be quite confusing. So if we get lost, we can ask some locals.' Chan tells you.
'Wow scary. Are you sure you're not just kidnapping me?' You joke.
'Nah. You could overpower me at any time, I wouldn't even dare try kidnapping you.'
'Aha. That's an answer I like to hear.' You smile.Chan was quite right. You both got lost easily and had to ask directions. Along the way, you run into a middle-aged couple taking a stroll in the pretty late-autumn sun. They look very cute together and it makes you think of your parents.
'Excuse me.' Chan starts in perfect Korean. 'We are trying to find the trailhead to the Suraksan trail. Do you happen to know the directions?'
'Oh aren't you two cute together?' The lady says. She turns to you. 'May I ask where you're from? You don't look like you're from South-Korea.'
You can see Chan heating up from the "embarrassing" comment the lady made earlier and wanting to repeat his question.
You stop him and answer in perfect Korean 'I am from Y/Country ma'm. And may I say, you two are very cute together as well. You remind me of my parents back in my country.'
'Oh my, your Korean is so good! You almost sound like a native speaker.' The lady tells you.
In the meantime, you see the lady's husband explaining directions to Chan.
'I bet you really miss your parents huh?' The lady grabs your hand out of kindness.
'Yes ma'm, I really do. But I feel like I've already made family here in Seoul.' You respond with a warm smile.
'That's nice. Hey, you..' The lady turns her attention to Chan. Chan and the man look at the lady. 'This one's a keeper. Make sure you don't lose them.'
