"Soobin ..."

Yeonjun opened the door fully, but before he could continue his sentence, he saw a couple tears falling from Soobin's eyes and onto the floor. Soobin's hands became fists, both hands shaking slightly. Yeonjun walked into the room slowly, closing the door behind him.

"It's not fair."

"Soobin, calm down." Yeonjun reached towards one of Soobin's hands only for the boy to move it away before they could touch.

"No, I can't calm down! You ... You ..." Soobin couldn't hold back anymore, more tears flowing down his cheeks. "You're going to leave me."

Soobin's hands stopped shaking, now slack against his side. He fell to his knees, as if all the strength in his body had left him. Yeonjun quickly rushed towards him, sitting on his knees in front of the crying boy. He took both of Soobin's hands in his, gripping them tightly.

"I will never leave you!"

Soobin's breathing stopped temporarily, his eyes wide and red as he looked up at Yeonjun slowly. He grimaced slightly before pulling his hands out of Yeonjun's grip, using the back of his wrist to wipe the wetness off of his face.

"You have to. You can't stay here." Soobin turned away from Yeonjun once again, walking towards his bed.

"I know." Yeonjun sounded defeated. No matter how much he longed to stay here, there was something pulling his soul towards another place, a place he couldn't quite see yet. "But ..." Yeonjun walked slowly in front of Soobin once more. "... I'll always be here."

Yeonjun's pointer finger lightly touched Soobin's shirt directly over his heart, both of them looking at Yeonjun's finger rather than each other. Yeonjun slowly gripped onto Soobin's shirt, tears now spilling out of his eyes as well.

"I don't want to go."

"I don't want you to go."

It was the first time they looked each other in the eyes in a while, Yeonjun's hand still lightly holding onto Soobin's shirt. It was almost as if letting go would mean that he'd disappear that second. They stared at each other in silence, small whimpers passed between them with red eyes and wet cheeks.

Soobin broke the silence with a smile, even though Yeonjun thought it looked slightly broken underneath the surface. He untangled Yeonjun's hand from his shirt, holding it lightly in his grasp. They both looked at their hands as they intertwined for what they thought could be one of the last times.

"I still don't understand this. How I can touch you sometimes but not always." Yeonjun's brows furrowed as they swung their arms in between each other.

"I think I get it." Soobin smiled at their swinging hands before looking back at Yeonjun. "I think we can only touch each other when it's what both of us want."

"But that time when you were ... when you were hurt, I couldn't touch you or your phone. Are you saying that we didn't want to touch then?" Yeonjun only looked more confused, thinking back to his panic in trying to save Soobin that night.

"No, I think there's more to it. I think we both have to be focused on it too. At that time, I was barely conscious. I didn't have enough energy to focus on our touch, so maybe that's why it couldn't happen. And all those times we fell through each other was probably my anxiety taking over my focus." Yeonjun pouted slightly as he nodded his head.

"That makes sense." Yeonjun turned his body slightly to Soobin's bed. "But enough of this talk that's honestly making my brain hurt." Soobin couldn't help but chuckle slightly, Yeonjun happy that the boy perked up slightly. "We should get some rest before tomorrow."
