"I'm thirsty."

[Then call for a nurse. Oh, wait.]

The door opened and Maya entered, her head hung low.

"Hey," you muttered through a cracked voice.

When Maya raised her head, you chuckled. Her eyes were swollen and her nose was red as a ruby.

She ran over to your side, collapsing to her knees as she held your hand. "Hic."

"Sorry for worrying you."

She shook her head, holding your knuckles to her forehead. "I'm okay..."

"What happened?"

Maya began to explain everything: After you fainted, she kicked the attacker in the face while Levi called for help. Some bystanders came to restrain the men and waited for the cops with them. When the ambulance arrived, they only let the family member Maya come with you, leaving Leviathan behind. Because of your age, the nurse asked for a legal guardian's phone number. Maya didn't want to inform your parents, though.

"That's good," you said, patting her hair.

"That reminds me—" she pulled out her phone "—I still haven't told Levi that you're okay. He's probably freaking out."

You laughed, but hissed from your injury. "From what I can tell, he was quite put together."

"Yeah." She smiled. "He stopped me from taking the knife out of you. I don't know what I would've done without him. Seeing you like that... It really shocked me."

"I can imagine."

"Do you need anything, brother?"

You asked for a sip of water and gave her your grandmother's contact details to pass onto the staff.

Your grandmother was in the suite no more than twenty minutes later. Two bulky men in suits, her bodyguards, trailing behind her like rottweilers.

"Goodness, child, what happened to you?" She then proceeded to bombard you with lectures and questions, not pausing to let you answer.

"Nanna, please, I'm okay."

"I was having tea with the most pretentious women in my circle, everything was okay, but then my phone rings and tells me my only grandchild is in the hospital after getting stabbed?"

"I'll explain everything to you, I promise. But first." You motioned at the sofa by the windows.

Maya stood, hands clasped together and lips puckered slightly with nervous anticipation.

Your grandmother's expression sharpened and she stood a little more straightly. "I didn't realize we had company."

"Nanna, you've heard of my sister, Maya. She came with me in the ambulance and has been taking care of me the entire time. Maya, this is my nanna."

Maya bobbed her head. "Nice to meet you, ma'am!"

"No need to shout, we're not in the marketplace."

"I'm sorry," Maya whispered.

Your grandmother tucked the comforter around you, the coldness in her eyes dissipating. "I had a brief chat with the nurse in charge of you. He told me that the police are waiting to speak with you. The police! I told them to at least wait until I have a proper talk with the boy."

"Yeah..."

"I already called your grandfather's lawyers, they're on their way, but I need you to tell me everything now."
