Ranboo heard the sound of the door opening, his eyes leaving his phone to look at the doorway. Niki stood there, his coat now having been taken off and the snow was brushed away from his hair. Niki had made it very clear he didn't like the snow, and as a California kid Ranboo didn't blame him.
Ranboo smiled at him, patting a clear spot on the bed he had been sleeping on. Niki shut the door behind him, shuffling his way over to his friends bed. He fell onto it with a soft 'oof' sound. He didn't say anything, so Ranboo decided to break the silence.
"Why haven't you been talking to Dream? He's been blowing up my phone trying to see if you're okay. He won't tell me why, says its better for you to say it yourself so you can explain why it upset you so much." He ran his fingers through his friends hair as he waited for him to respond.
Niki took in a deep breathe, melting into the touch. He himself didn't know why he was ignoring Dream, he knew that the older didn't mean for his comment to come off the way it did, but he was just upset about it. Love has always been a touchy subject with Niki.
"We were talking." He began, biting the inside of his cheek before he continued. "And he made a joke about how not everyone loves me, and I knew he meant no harm by it but it just..." He stopped to take a breath, finding the subject very touchy.
"No, I get it." Ranboo spoke before he could finish his sentence. "Dream didn't mean harm, but given what happened between you and Kasper I can see why it upset you so much. But you know, you can't ignore him forever." Niki nodded his head. "I wasn't planning on it. I was gonna text him tomorrow, after this stupid day is over."
Niki sat in his thoughts for a moment. He always adored Valentines Day, he loved seeing so many people around him getting things from their partners, and his parents had given him chocolate every year when he was growing up. Even now, he would go home to the same box of chocolate coming in the mail.
However, since Kasper happened he despised the day.
"Ranboo, have you ever been in love?"
The question took the younger by surprise, but he shook his head after a moment. "No, I can't say I have been. Been in relationships, but I don't think I've ever been in love with someone. Why?"
Niki sighed. "They say you know when you're in love with someone, you just kind of feel it. They become more special to you, and you feel like you want to have them in your life forever and never let go of them."
Ranboo nodded in understanding, not really getting where Niki was going with this. Well, until he seen the boys eyes begin to fill with tears.
"Why didn't he fall in love with me, Boo?"
Ranboo could've sworn he felt his heart being ripped out his chest. Niki never cried, he's basically one of the most emotionless people Ranboo knows. To see him cry is absolutely heartbreaking.
He continued to run his fingers through the boys hair as he cried. "He'd have to be an absolute idiot to not love you, Niki. You're one of the greatest people I know, and you showed him nothing but undying love. You deserve the absolute world, and he didn't give that to you."
Niki continued to sob as he sat up, allow his body to fall limp into Ranboo's arms. The taller ran his hands up and down Niki's back, trying to comfort him in any way he could.
"He never even said he loved me, not once." He hiccuped. "I gave him everything he wanted, I let him take my virginity, I let him meet my parents. It isn't fair Ranboo—its just not fair."
"Hey, you'll find someone who gives you everything you've ever wanted and more. Kasper was a bad person, and not someone who deserved to have your love. One day someone is gonna come around and take his place, and do a much better job than he did."
